Anyone have a link to get a legit trd air flow accelerator. I want to put it on my stock air box. I tried finding one but the links i found do not look legit.

Tried to install mine but ran into a fitment issue (user error?).

If the air flow accelerator is seated then the air box will not seat properly and - vice versa.

    Help/thoughts?

Bottom photo is correct. Raised portion goes through the opening. I know it’s not a perfect seal from the engine bay but it doesn’t matter.

@PATTEN - thanks for the reply and picture.

@Skippy - I also installed the aFe filter. By saying it fits good, does it fit like the bottom picture in my post and like patten’s? Thanks.

Yes, and really doesn't make a difference since the air flow is flowing over the Accelerator. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same part as the TRD Cold Air Intake. Box is the same, but they trim it out in red :)

Don’t forget to take out the useless carbon filter and disconnect your battery.

Just start at one corner with a flat head and pry it up and out. Also I forgot to mention you also need to modify or replace the throttle body gasket if you do this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V16V43pk8ek

Yep, I’ve seen it both ways. Some have the whistle with the mesh gasket in place and some don’t. So if you do get the whistle change the gasket, if not then your gtg.

Is there one that fits a 2018? I might be totally overlooking it, but I searched toyotaofcoolsprings.com and Amazon and can't find one that fits later than 2017...

Also, does anybody notice a difference after installing this on a stock intake?

The part# for the TRD accelerator listed above will fit your 2018, nothing has changed between the 17-18 regarding the air intake.

Is there a benefit to how this is designed with the air being able to flow over/around the accelerator as well?

Thank you guys for the replies and input. Much appreciated.

Its part of the TRD intake, so if you don't have that then no airflow accelerator.

Can someone elaborate on this...I changed mines out without disconnecting the battery. Aside for protecting myself from a shock and shorting out something, should I be worried? I'm used to working around live voltage (do it for a living), so I didn't see this as a big deal.

Thanks for the answer I've been searching. Mines look like the bottom picture and I had the same concern.

Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. The airflow accelerator will change the MAF reading slightly and if you removed the charcoal mat it will change that reading a little more. Disconnecting the battery and doing a reset will allow the ECU to see what the MAF is reading with the new accelerator. Eventually the ECU would correct itself on its own, this is just a quicker way of doing it.

I think he means disconnect the battery so that the ecu will be quicker to learn any new air flow patterns after installation.
