I'd rather pay the $85 and not top it off once a month.
Problem is, even with the booster, it still has to be topped off occasionally..

Unless this contraption eliminates that. I'd take it if it does.

Yep, I put my battery tender on mine once a month and it only takes a minute. Being retired myself, $85 is a couple of 1.5 liter bottles of Bulleit Burbon. Just got to establish your priorities LOL! :D:D

If you have the quick connect extensions connected to your battery and charger, all you have to do is plug in the charger and connect the quick connects. Then, just step away. The smart charger won't over-charge and the disconnect is just as easy. The charging obviously takes longer than a minute but it isn't like you have to hover over the truck.

The HKB fuse I had was utilized for the same purpose.
Boosted my voltage up to 14.1 to 14.5.
I still had to 'top off' the X2 monthly..:(

Went back to work this week after 7 months off.
Going from doing whatever I wanted all day to working 13 hours a day.
I called in sick today, 4 days for this week was enough.
It was certainly a shock to the system....

I hear that. Teachers feel that way after any extended weekend we get. The longer a holiday is, the harder it is to come back....

I'm gonna leave this district and go to a smaller one that has switched to 4 day work weeks.

You mean Australia banged you until you couldn't walk straight and then walked out taking the just-delivered pizza and your dog?

I just bought another Minn Kota for the Tundra. I was looking at the NOCO Genius 10 during the holiday sales since they were $45 or $50 and a lot of people were complaining about it killing their AGM battery despite the AGM setting

For what it's worth no matter what kind of battery it is plugging it in every once in a while will make it last longer. I had a motorcycle battery that I kept plugged into an optimate charger when not in use and it lasted me over 10 years. I'm still on the stock battery in my 2019 and I plug it in every once in a while especially when it gets really cold. Completely understand most people don't do this but I'm frugal lol.

I came into this thread thinking I was going to buy an AGM battery and just needed to figure out the right setup for the charging voltage (diode, etc.).

after reading all 6 pages it seems like the AGM batteries are still not a sure thing even with the diode.

Had my X2 for 12 months or so using the HBK with zero issues. I trickle charge it ever so often as a precaution.

I'm running a costco energizer group 31m AGM battery and no issues with it charging yet, no topping off or anything just put it in with extended terminals all fit, factory hooks, I cut the factory tray but I didn't have to, maybe not all AGMs are the same and some don't need this charging mod?

This may be a dumb question, but I have to ask… I have a separate 100ah house battery in my camper. It charges via solar and alternator.

Shouldn’t I be able to use my house battery to trickle charge my new AGM battery (assuming I go that route)?

I'm not an expert but I don't think it'll work. The AGMs usually charge at a higher voltage. You might be able to replace the house battery with the AGM and have it charge depending on how your solar controller works. With some you are able to select its charging an AGM battery. I have some Jackery solar panels and then a solar charging switch I can connect and have to charge a variety of battery types.

The RedArc can accept direct solar panel input. That might get it done?

Exactly! I do this with them all. I don't buy too many batteries

I'm on year 4 of my X2 once a month charge up experiment. Everything working the same as new. Hopefully that continues.
Eventually I will have one of those hood mounted solar panels and then won't have to top off this vehicle again.

I am looking at am AGM for the starting battery in my boat. I have 2 main reasons.
1.) The location makes it difficult to check. the water level.
2.) It is a PIA to get a battery in and out. from under my console. To get the. MCAs my outboard requires I need a
    heavy battery.

These 2 positives don't apply for the truck. I figure the cost of an an AGM is about 2X but you get 2X the life. Not sure in the truck if it worth the hassles associated with charging. I have an on board digital charger in the boat that has a maintenance mode. I plug it in after every trip so topping off the boat batteries is not a concern. From the research I have done I don't really see any advantages when it comes to AHs or reserve capacities.

Have had an Odyssey AGM and a HKB fuse installed on my 2015 for 1.5 years, no issues at all. I put my Noco 3.5A charger on it a couple times a year, just to check. Always starts charge at 75% and in less than 10 minutes I’m at 100%.

Had the original OEM battery until I changed it out.
