Anyone found any? Looking for the whole assembly, not just the bulbs. Looking for a more modern, less round look.

Are you sure you don't want front tail lights? :boink:

Jokes aside, I don't think I've ever seen an aftermarket tail light on a Sequoia.

You're right I meant rear-facing rear tail lights! I haven't either...just would like a different light setup and not a round look....

Everyone with a sequoia needs to email alpharex. If they get enough interest they just might make something for us - although I would still guess there is too small of a market since the lights wouldn't be able to double for use on the Tundra like the headlights do.

    The response I got below:
"Thank you for contacting AlphaRex USA. We are always expanding our product base especially for vehicles that we're receiving more inquiries for. Maybe check with us again in the future and we might have an update for you. Make sure to follow our social media pages for announcements on the release of our new products..."

Does anyone know if you can remove the panels under the sequoia outer taillights and fit in gen2 Tundra taillights in the space created from removing the outer tail lights and panels?

Has anyone used a headlight/taillight company that is reasonable priced and good for retrofitting these with LEDs etc? This is one area on my sequoia that I would like to address, if able.

That's actually a cool idea man, I can see where you're going with that. Looks pretty close eh? Probably wouldn't have a useable cavity behind the panel to allow for the light housing, but you could maybe bore it out.

Went down a YT rabbithole and found polycarbonate casting. Have to separate the lens to make a mold, but not overly complicated and solid result. Nice detailed video on it here.

Just single-colour options on a DIY level, but maybe a clear lens with a light tint and coloured LEDs...like some early 2000's type shit. Worth rattling around the brain.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Can you link to the facebook page? I don't have facebook but I'll create one just for these tail lights. I looked on Morimoto's website and I don't see these, are they not up for sale yet?

These all look like 100% photoshop. Were these proposed design ideas? Or supposed to be the actual products?

The photos posted above are actually the prototypes (I'm assuming photoshopped) that did NOT make the cut.
They are working on the final product and were supposed to have a picture of them this week but hasn't posted anything yet.
I'm guessing it will be at least another month or more before they actually start producing them.
He said price will most likely be close to OEM 18+ tailights = $500-$600

Take it for what it’s worth, but I have a good contact at Morimoto. He indicated to me that there’s no plans to make tails for the Sequoia.

I smoked my taillights the other week. I knew there weren't going to be any aftermarket lights available anytime soon and I didn't want to spend a fortune on them anyways. I saw a guy who did this on the Facebook Sequoia page and decided to try it out. I used Rustoleum Lens Tint and Rustoleum @x Ultra COver Clear to finish them. I showed how you take off each taillight below. Basically cleaned the taillights up, wiped them down with rubbing alcohol and taped off the round portions of the tailights. I didn't want to smoke out the whole taillight and reduce their light output and this are sort of like the newer 18+??? tailights. Your first coat of lens tint has to be very fine to avoid drips. Then I did two good coats of lens tint. I dried them with a heat gun in between coats to speed up the process. I then took the rectangular side piece of tape off.......I precut this from the round part so it would ocme off nicely. Then I sprayed two more coats on. I then removed the rest of the tape exposing the round portions and finished them off with two coats of clear......making sure to do an initial fine coat to avoid runs,, so really three coats. I think they came out pretty good!! I should probably make this a regular post.

Outside taillight bolts accessed through the subwoofer and hvac covers on either side of the hatch.

2 bulb plugs and view of 2 side clips and plunger clip....taillight pulls straight out with a little prying around the edges.

2 bolts holding inside taillight on the edge of the hatch
    [IMG]

Orientation of inside taillight clip.......this one is a little tricky, you have to pull the tailight out to the side with the taillight pressed against the hatch and then pull it out and away
    [IMG]

Another shot of the orientation of the clip for inside taillight
    [IMG]

Taped off.....I taped them off all the way, then traced the round portions with a Sharpie and carefully cu the tape away. I didn't cut into the taillight to bad and didn't really care as it was going to be painted over and not show up anyways.

It's still in-progress as far as I know. He posted last on 10/31 saying they're still working on the 3D printed prototypes. I don't know who the manufacturer is, I don't think it's morimoto though. Updates can be seen in the "Toyota Sequoia 2nd Generation" facebook group by user Matt Gee (who works at Umnitza, which is a lighting vendor who's been around for a LONG time)

What’s up everyone, new here, I’ve had my 1st gen sequoia for a few months now, love but wanted a little facelift…does anyone know if the 2nd gen headlights and taillights are direct fit to the 1st gen?
    Thank you

Even if you can, then what are you going to do with the inner lights on the trunk door? Leave them as they are? I think it's going to look ugly.
