Kind of a noob to the whole audio world but the 2nd gen definitely needs the upgrade. For those of you running the Alpine W650 are you still able to keep steering wheel controls? How about back up camera?

I can’t do radios without knobs. Also, why the hell cant you buy a stereo with a nice screen like an iPad. It’s like they go out do their way to stay in the 90s with their buttons for volume and low res screens damn it.

/rant now get off my lawn you damned teenagers!!

I pretty much only listen to Sat radio in the truck and have ZERO interest in Streaming or Car Playing anything and I can't comprehend why the more pricey Android based units will not accommodate Sat unless it is by Streaming?

I am not going to Mirror anything and my Tundy does not have steering wheel controls.

I also will not buy a radio without at least a Volume Knob which seems to rule out any higher quality upgrade options entirely?

So in a way it was genius it seems for the factory radio to at least have knobs outside of the screen area even if the radios suck in some ways.

    WTF????

Did you check out the Tesla-style unit at Phoenix Android Radio’s website? A bunch of us have it, and there’s a thread on this forum called “Android Headunit” you can use as a resource. You gotta be very familiar with Android, and have some patience and tech skills while dealing with the settings, but it’s about my favorite mod to my Tundra.

yes i was was able to retain my steering wheel controls and the back up camera with the maestro rr. you wont have compatibility for digital gauges through the ob2. streaming is nice (have not bought a cd in like 15 years), calls are clear and no drop outs. i got mine with the xla-450 micro amp that mounts to the back of the head unit.
