    Hey all,

Anyone have experience swapping out the old head units for a modern one?
The prices for these are crazy, from $1,200 to $200. Are the price differences warranted? Seems insane to me. I just want to be able to sync it to my phone and wire up an aftermarket front camera and the tailgate camera as well.

Seems pretty straight forward in terms of installing them but do you need to get any of the plastic molding for around it or do they all fit perfect?

    Appreciate any knowledge

If you can be patient (shipping directly from China wait approx 2 months) here’s my recommendation it is a really solid unit. Price/features/quality is unbeatable in comparison to the $1000 plus domestic units available here.

To get carplay to work w/ this unit you'll need to download the AutoKit app to the head unit and purchase a carplay adapter, I used (which works wired and wireless): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G1F11GP?ie=UTF8

What about the brackets? Did you have to trim anything? Or did it bolt right in?

Has anyone had any experience with these units from Ail express ?

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/325...b7b&afSmartRedirect=y&gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt

Ebay has a few similar units for a comparable price too,
Just wondering about the quality ?
I wanted to switch to one of the premium systems for the Gen2.5 Tundra's but infotainment wants $1500 for the system

these are a 12.1 inch screen and run between $300-600
For the price this would be a pretty cool upgrade I think...

Kind of curious about them myself. There's some youtube videos out showing installation of some brands. Just wondering about the longevity of these things. 1k plus is up there! That being said, they are attractive!

There's a big ole thread about these units: https://www.tundras.com/threads/android-headunit.16037/

TLDR on it is there are lots of issues but seems great when it does work.

This looks awesome! Do you know if they have a 3rd Gen compatible option? Or.... I guess 2.5 Gen now.

It seems on the 2nd gen -2013, the headunit comes out and is not flush but the 2013+ models are flush in the dash. Is that correct?

Have you actually compared the two because there are some obvious differences...

    -No lame dasaita logo
-8 core processor vs 6 core
    -QLED display vs IPS
-No need to purchase additional canbus
    -2x DSP vs 1x DSP
    -6GB RAM/128GB ROM vs 4GB/64GB ROM
    -27 vs 15 EQ settings
    -4G internet vs WiFi Only
-Lane Departure/Forward Collision Warning vs none
-Cleaner and more modern user interface

I'm sure there are some more technical aspects I'm not mentioning but overall this is a superior head unit compared to dasaita.

If you're referring to the Teyes unit- I wasn't really worried about too much risk since the Daisita unit everyone gets is also from Aliexpress. Although there is a 95 page thread on the Dasaita unit it really didn't make me anymore confident that it was a better unit, especially with some people having to go back and forth with the seller about the canbus. I actually did reach out to the Dasaita seller at first but didn't get a straight answer on the canbus so I looked elsewhere.

As I mentioned before the Teyes unit is a superior unit when you compare hardware and capabilities so it was pretty much a no brainer, especially with the dasaita logo on the unit itself just seemed kinda cheesy. Plus having an OLED display in my truck is kinda funny because it's better quality than any of the TV's/monitors in my house:rofl:

One year later still loving this unit!

XM is run better from the APP thru Carplay.
Much better clearer signal than using the satellite..

I don't even use my external XM tuner anymore in my Tundra.

@pyrite808 Did you need any additional adapters to use the steering wheel controls with the Teyes unit or was it included?
