    Updating as I get it.......

I went by there this morning. The vehicle was nowhere to be found. It's hot here, so all of the doors were up. The only possible place it could have been was in the one paint booth that was closed. Fast forward to this afternoon..... They call and say that they are finished their work but it is now at Toyota getting the crash avoidance system reprogrammed. I asked, "so you have finished all of your work"? Her response, well, we are waiting on a "limited" logo to come in. I said, the two panels that were damaged don't have "limited" logos. She said that she was not sure of where the logo went but that it said "shop pay" for the emblem and replacement and that they would call me tomorrow.

So my hypothesis is this.... they saw that the colors didn't match and decided to paint the entire side. My problem with this is that the hood, roof, and tailgate along with the other side won't match the newly painted side. This actually makes it harder for me, don't you think? Being that those items listed are on different "planes" the color difference won't show up as bad for me to complain. Although, in reality, we all know that those pieces don't match! Again, i'd like to hear your suggestions. Still don't pay, etc.....

Certainly don't sign anything until you're satisfied. Find out exactly what they did. If they painted the whole side and it's still not right call the insurance company and let them deal with it.

So you think they would dig themselves deeper into a hole by painting the whole side the wrong color. Hopefully NOT!!!

Why else would they need the Limited logo?

Or maybe they corrected the paint to match as it should.

They likely painted the rear door and beside to help blend the colors better. Hopefully it worked!

They probably painted the whole side and removed the LIMITED LOGO because it's there in your pictures. You didn't give them permission to paint the whole side. They should have only painted the repair area. I would open the door jams pull the weather stripping down and look at the paint to see if there is a difference. If they painted the whole truck I wouldn't take it. You have proof of the damage and the bad paint job, I would hire a lawyer to fight that one.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Hopefully they didn't paint the whole side.

They painted the rear door because the LIMITED LOGO is missing.

The tailgate paint doesn't match the paint above the taillight......at least to me from that picture.

Man, I hate this for you. What a bunch of bs. Hard to find folks nowadays who give a hoot about their work. Production is all that matters these days. Don’t take the truck or pay a dime. You would handle this mess better than I would. Keep us updated. Truly sorry anyone has to go thru this bs.

You are right..... they told me they ordered one.

Hard to tell from the angles if they painted the bed as well.

Well it looks a hell of a lot better than the previous pictures. Honestly, it may just be the sun/shade in the photos that are making it look off. Could be near perfect in person. What did your wife say? I know she took the pictures but did she notice any difference?

well, to give you a representation of her observation skills...... she thought the pics yesterday were great. In fact, she said, "that looks great". However, she did say that it looked like they had matched the doors at least.

Haha okay. So not a whole lot of help. My wife is the first one to point out if something “looks like crap” :) At least they are going in the right direction. I hope it all works out for you!

I at least like that they saw the problem and decided to do something about it.
    BUT
If they needed to paint the entire side to "fix" or "cover up" the debacle, then I have a problem with them not involving you on the options to fix. A phone call from them should have gone something like this:
" Hey, the truck is fixed but the paint match is proving to be a challenge. We have a few options and would like to see which of them works best for you.."

You would go down and discuss it openly as honest humans, and that would have been easy. Their decision to paint half your truck and not tell you is where I draw the line of trust is broken.
I would make them paint the entire truck and then you know it's all a match. They started down the path and got half way there, just tell them to order another "limited" badge, because they'll need it for the other side.

I like where your head is at..... I tend to agree with your thoughts. The bad thing is that everybody knows everybody here! I know, I know....... It shouldn't matter! But it does when it is you in this position. I really hate to be "that guy" but damn, that thing cost me a lot of money!

Your not that guy. He's that guy that couldn't match the paint and he runs a poor business, the people should be talking about him not you. Like you said you paid alot of money and it should be perfect.

They must have absolutely thought that was the best color match they could get/do or rushed the initial color match eye test. If it were my project and my paint match/supplier guys... oh man... someone would be getting fired or leaving for another supplier. Either way, the painter had the final say. I would have rejected that color match from the supplier before it even hit metal. I always take an original piece and compare to a sample piece before shooting anything, also comparing in all different lighting and outside. They should have tried again to match and sprayed another sample piece until they found the right color match. I know sometimes it can be difficult to get exact matches, especially with metallics. Some batches are simply bad matches. Keep searching and playing around till it’s right. NOT PAINT OTHER PARTS OF THE TRUCK WITH THE WRONG COLOR! Sorry for your luck...

save those pictures you got with the time stamps. the Limited badge missing means they had to repaint the rear door.
best is for you to go see it in person

    Yes, see your point.
BUT, if everyone does indeed know everyone, why not be straight up and make it the best for you too. Let them make you happy so you can praise their business to everyone you know... keeping a good vibe. They are obviously conscience of that, or they wouldn't have painted the whole side of the truck to try and fix it. The problem comes with how the went about it, and you can present them with an opportunity to make good by doing what you think is right solution. Something they should have asked you before they went into cover-up mode.

This indicates insurance is involved, (guessing)
I would also get them involved and let them know this is a BS job and they need to insure it is done correctly before they pay for it.
There are many ways you can check for body shop paint, over spray, color match (obvious) sandpaper marks, tape off marks,
