Jerry is a good source to hit up on here. He has a loooooot of experience tuning. Way more than I. It might take a few days for a PM, but it is worth the time.

I really liked my 6112 and 5160 shocks. Perfect for what you want to do.

Well the thread title did ask for gurus....

Let's start by not calling them struts. They are coilovers. Vehicles with a McPherson strut assembly do not have upper control arms. Every tundra ever made has a double a-arm with a coilover.

    Stop calling me Jerry, asshole!

My bad. I was referring specifically to the billy 4600 in the 3rd gen "going out" before the coil spring fatigues.
I figured "coilovers" colloquially suggested the coil spring a shock absorbers as one unit. (Like the 6112s or kings or.....)

I separated the two in verbiage because a lot of folks tend to replace the 4600's with 5100s and maintain the stock coil spring.

just saying that when it's time for new shock absorbers I'd replace the entire coilover.

Hahaha. Understood. I have some as well.
    I'm a dentist.

    Patient: "I think I have TMJ "
Me: "umm you have two of them"
    Patient: ??? *stares*
Me: "temporomandibular joint. You have a right one and left one. What you're referring to is TMD or temporomandibular joint disorder"

No wonder people hate the dentist.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Actually I hate dentists because they always talk to me while they are doing work...and I can't say anything back without sounding like a complete retard. Most the time I just blink a lot and play pocket pool.

Haha for real. It's also the time when we try out our corniest / worst jokes.

    Same ones. On every patient.

Seeing is how this thread went way south of where it started I'm going to throw this out there,I'm getting ready to order upper control arms for my 13 cm daily driver,no hardcore wheeling but the occasional trip to campsites and the like, what would you all recommend, light racing ball joint style or total chaos uni ball,3" lift and probably won't go much taller.

I'll be honest. There are other reasons besides just being a fanboy. Chaos has the best customer support in the market. No disrespect to the other players, but TC has always picked up the phone and returned emails within a day, most the time hours. I can't tell you how many times they have sent me parts I needed...and they got to me in 1 or 2 days. They run their business like a business should be run, and everybody gets the same treatment. The little guys like you and me get great customer support just like the big boy race teams.

That's a huge selling point for me,I think my biggest concern is how are they on a daily drivin truck, are they a smooth ride, does the uni ball ware quickly ,etc!

Funny you say that. How do you feel about King Customer support? I have always had top notch service from them. Hell, even Gerardo called me from King of the Hammers and helped me out. How awesome is that?

King is f'ing awesome. They wrote the book on customer service. They have my business for live (as does TC). There's a reason I have Chaos and King on all 4 builds.

It's ok. They are not King, but very knowledgeable and responsive. The last time I called they called me back in a half day. Mind you I didn't call and ask what was the biggest size tire I could fit or something remedial. I had some very specific rebound valving questions and got new shafts that had a 3/4" rod end for a 4Runner instead of the Tacoma rod end.
