@TundraUTAH.. You probably know this already but Tundras have a driver side lean due to the fuel tank being on the driver’s side of the truck. You’ll have to run more preload on the driver’s coil over.

I have 700lb springs on my ADS coil overs and I have approx.. 1/2 inch more exposed threads showing on my driver’s side then the passenger. With 700lb springs, I’ve found that 1/4 inch adjustment equals 1/2 inch in ride height. I would expect this to be roughly the same for your spring rate.

You will need a new alignment after correcting the preload for the lean.

I have heard about the lean, but never noticed it when I was stock or with 5100's. I'd say it's pretty noticeable now. My passenger side is about 1" higher. Have you tried adjusting yours on the truck, or did you have to pull them off? I've heard of people being able to adjust them by just jacking it up, but ADS recommended taking them off and compressing the coils.

I purchased mine through MCM and they came with about 1/2 inch more preload on the driver's side. I have since lowered mine a little. I did take the preload out while the coil overs were on the truck.

I would try on the truck first. You would have to jack the truck up and support from the frame rails so that the lower control arms are unsupported. Use lots of spray lube on the threads. I would only take them off if it gets to hard to turn.

Edited to add.. Looking at your pics, it looks like youre gonna have to remove the passenger side to get to the Allen bolt that tightens the preload adjuster.

Haha.. been a long day. You don’t need to make adjustments to the passenger side just the drivers. You’re good to go.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to go up .5 on the driver's and down .5 on the passenger's. Then, I need to decide out how I want to get .5 in the back for a slight rake.

Do one side at a time then remeasure. Going .5 up on the driver side will net you 1 inch of increased ride height.

Stock has different spring rates side to side, you will notice they have different color markings, thats why with the 5100s you never saw the difference.

Couple options pictured, its a little bit of a tough job but once you figure it out its much easier.

Myself, I used spring clamps to help me. Myself and another gentlemen talked back and forth a bit, his route was the 2nd pic. It definitely helps having something there to take some of the spring load away.

I wouldn't recommend using my method for coilover assembly/dissassembly, but it worked well for me to simply adjust preload.

You'll figure out a way, hopefully its an easier feat foe you!

Use a punch on the collar for sure.

Any questions or anything your welcome to shoot me a PM.

Thanks for the tip @14burrito I'll have to pick up a set of spring clamps or see if the local parts store loans them out.

On the clamps, be careful to get a set with "short" fingers...otherwise it'll dig into the shock body.

I might try the heavy duty ratchet next time to see how that feels/works. Still want to go down maybe 2 turns or so.

The second pic is me. I've used what I call the redneckery tie down method to adjust coilovers in the past and it works super slick. I use 2 - 1000 pound rated tie downs to hold the compressed spring while I release the jack and lower the lca. Find a punch that fits into the adjustment holes and you can turn them by hand. I lowered mine as they were preset for the added load of a bumper and winch, which haven't yet arrived. I'll readjust them once my bumper gets here and is installed. I purchased my ADS stuff from MCM Fab, along with their uca's. (which are freaking awesome works of art I have to say).I ordered the 700 pound springs and they came adjusted to compensate for the Tundra lean. I went with the triple bypass rears, and I put OME Dakar leaf packs on. I will be dropping a Four Wheel Camper onto my Tundra in the spring and will be spending a lot of time on forestry type (washboard) roads. So far, without the camper on yet, I've been super impressed. The ADS shocks just soak up washboard, and the truck feels firm and tight like a sports car on the highway.

A few pictures. The ADS triple bypass shocks are a thing of beauty, IMO. I havent even got around to looking into adjusting the rebound/compression , or the clicker on the fronts either , if need be. I'm pretty happy with the way it all turned out. I like the fact I have the ability to adjust my front ride height as required. I have airbags on the rear to help adjust rear height under load too. I did buy a set of Toytec adjustable shackles but have not installed them yet (still have the stock ones on with the Dakar leaf packs) once our camper arrives and is installed I'll see if the linger shackle is needed. 19aec6a0828182ad54a6862c8d17dbfa_77e4eb9c62c73f21bd6d58c5f47892247c409cd2.jpg20d9258a3faf3a92d000792c1f7189bc_7385bcb826484f72210964a719f9aeb2a59a73ac.jpgde41c8e678323e9e1c56d26c739aa3e1_caf04bb0270c7e4327b0e4a9ceb30a232444440d.jpg

I was able to squeeze out about a 1/2" in height by just jacking up the truck and using a punch. I'm trying to get another 1/4-1/2", but there's just too much tension. My punch is bending. I rented some spring compressors from autozone, but they are too big to fit over the coils. I'll see if they have another model. Would happen to have any more photos of how you ran your straps? It looks like it goes over the coil behind the UCA, but then its hard to see how they're ran at the bottom. I've seen other people use this method, but they just wrapped them around the coils. So, it sounds like you got the truck on stands first, then jacked up the LCA to compress the spring, put on the straps, lowered LCA, adjusted coilover height.

How do you like the Dakars? I was looking at them, but I think I only want 1" of lift in the back.

Hey, I jacked up and supported the frame, removed the wheel, let the suspension droop down, then ran the tie down straps through the closest to top coil that I could wiggle them through. Then I jacked up under the lca to compress the coil, then strapped the tie down to the lca and ratcheted it up. Them u lowered the lca down to full droop again, and the tie downs hold the coil compressed, releasing tension on the upper adjuster. Loosen the Allen head bolt, and you should be able to spin the adjustment collar with a punch. Once adjusted, just reverse the process to remove the tie down straps. I did separate the tie down strap from the ratchet end so I could feed the strap end (not the hook end) around the upper part of the coil.

I really like the Dakar leaf packs so far. They've lifted that rear probably close to 2"

This pic shows one of the tie down straps wrapped around the upper part of the coil. I was able to wiggle and slide the second strap around to the rear of the coil. ff57c8e3fc65005e6219ec04c6310ede_2eeed6106899196588ac390e70151ec5d8a8cddd.jpg
