I have a 2015 Tundra SR5 with entune navigation system non jbl. I’m wanting to add focal IS 690Toy components. I’m curious if I’ll need to run any speaker wire to put tweeters in the sail panel.

I’m replacing stock amp with an alpine ktp 445u and am adding focal isc 165 for the rear.

just curious how to get the tweeters ran in the sail panels. Will I need to buy some speaker wire? Pretty sure there are no tweeters in the dash.

ETA: popped the dash panels and there are speakers. Mind blown cause I couldn’t feel or hear them with the volume on 50

Yes you need to run wires to tweeters in sails. Bought my Infinitys from Crutchfield and they came with wire and door adapters. One thing I like about Crutchfield. They know what you need for install. Putting tweeters in sails is simple. It is not like you are running wires to the dash.

I would have rathered go Crutchfield as I did for my rear speakers but the components were so much cheaper on ebay I couldn't justify it. Best I can tell the adapters aren't anywhere near long enough. What door adapters did they send you?

Yes you will need to run a wires from the 6x9 drivers to the sail panel assuming you are using factory wiring otherwise but that’s not hard at all. The focal tweeters do have brackets that fit in the factory dash locations and they come with harness adapters that will require a bit of modification but they will allow you to tap into factory there as well.

I ordered some sail panels with tweeter provisions. Just wanted to make sure I have speaker wire on hand when it comes time to install. What gauge do I need? Guess i need a small connector kit also as all the harnesses in the Focal kit look to be for toyota adapters.

16 gauge should be plenty and you will only need like 4 feet total for both doors

No need for new sail panels. Just need a hole saw.

Rack with LED lights, carbon fiber wrap, bumper with winch, rear bumper, lift, and Moto Metal tires.
If you have a SR5 model, the stock tweeters are in the dash. You can buy adapters for the tweeters and put the focal tweeters under the dash grilles using the adapter. I have Alpine Type R components up front and have the mids in the doors and tweeters in the dash where the factory tweeters once were. I have done my own installs in the past, but this go around paid a stereo shop to do the work.

Dash speakers look like paper full range speakers just really small. Plan on replacing all dash speaker down the line with the Tech12 kenwoods and mid dash tweeters or some audiofrogs I saw posted. already have everything ordered to run the tweeters in the sail panels.

Dash speakers (center and side) run off the HU, door speakers run off the underseat amp.
Signal sent to that amp from the stock HU is mids and lows for the 6X9 in the front door and rears.

    I have an aftermarket HU.
I used JBL door sails for my components.

JBL panels come with grills or cut out? Haven't received them yet and the focal 690toy tweeters don't appear to come with grills.

I can't even hear my dash speakers. Unless you are going to power off the component box I would not waste the money.

The factory head unit is more than enough to power these. They sound awesome....

They come with grills, I had to cut mine out since the Focal tweeter had it's own.
I had to fabricate the door sail to fit my tweeter.
I would guess that your Toyota specific component tweeters will fit in the JBL door sails...
If I recall, it looked something like this before I removed the grilles (literally cut out with a dremel).

I ran my system for 2 years with nothing but the front door components and disconnected all 3 dash speakers.
    Had a great front stage.
But I'm in the process of making changes after buying a different after market HU.
As @purplenova suggested I contacted James and he suggested the same thing pictured here.

But it didn't make sense to me to have 6 tweeters, 4 in the dash and 2 in the door sails.
So James swapped the side dash with his Kenwood KFC-X2C mids.

There isn't much room for clearance on the side dash speakers, so one is limited on what to use to replace stock speakers.

    C05027CB-3448-4C6A-AE98-5A420B64A105_zps_a0a8bc0b4e83406c416189f5b14dea3e5e73cf40.jpg

I did keep James' custom twin tweeter center as the OEM center speaker is a dual voice coil that has left and right signals from the HU.
I also had him put the adapters on the speakers I bought from him so it is plug and play to the existing dash wiring.

I've yet to install them as I haven't had time to tune everything with the new HU.
I will run the dash speakers off the 22 watt RMS HU and the doors off the amp.
Hopefully get it done in a couple weeks.
