These guys who have pushed the envelope in attempting this mod have gone above and beyond Virgillus11and Tundra_Lover both have AVS Virgillus11 states MTS works but Crawl/DAC is no bueno.

Still looking for another factor.

 

I don't see anything about AVS on 101. Last I saw someone was waiting for the switch to test on AVS.

 

I'm basing it on his trim and from what I read on his earlier posts.

Got mines from Fred Anderson yesterday just popped it in. Literally took 3 minutes. As confirmed by others, MTS now lights up and shows on cluster while in 4H. I have a non TRD off road limited gas. Not sure if it a placebo effect or. It but while switching modes though I heard a difference in engaging or not.

 

Exactly same thing I felt and heard when switching between modes. Just did it this morning.

I had to take the center console all apart though. The cord/connection would not give much at all. I’ve had it apart a bunch to install the Limited on down center console and then PPF so I might have routed things incorrectly when putting it back together..

You get 8ish total new modes (four for 4H and four for 4L). I thought it was just 4 so that was a nice surprise.

I also bought mine via Fred for $131 I think.

 

You’re absolutely right on the 8 settings. I didn’t realize that 4L had its own settings/terrains.

 

These last posts have convinced me. I just ordered it too from Fred Anderson. Right up the road for me being in upstate SC.

I’ve got everything the other SR5 guys have that claimed it worked except for the PVM.

 

Very interested if it works for you. There’s someone, maybe from a different thread, that has an sr5 and it did NOT work. I’m in the same boat as you, all the sr5 options except PVM/digital rear view/etc so you will be the deciding factor on which SR5s it works on.

 

I pulled the trigger today after reading most of this thread. If it doesn’t work for my vanilla sr5 4x4 I’ll sell it for cheap on the forum.

 

I also have one coming next week. Limited gas with rear airbags, no AVS. Will report back.

 

Which part number did you order from Fred Anderson? I was going to order from Frontier, but theirs is just over $200.

So I just got 84970-0C010 and installed in a 22 tundra platinum hybrid.

drive and tow light light up when pressed , Mts and crawl have no lights when I press button. All 4 button runtime lights are lit when headlights on. I’ve tried 4H, putting the car in gear (haven’t driven it in 4WD shifted to drive in my driveway) and nothing

not sure why

I have panoramic cams, avs, load leveling. It’s likely the avs or load leveling will not work?

 

update, no idea why as I had restarted previously.


MTS function Working fine on my avs/load leveling 22 platinum hybrid now. I do not have the TRD OR package.

Ok, figured it out. You cannot switch into MTS unless you are in 4WD and MOVING! I originally tried in gear but not moving. It will only switch into it when in motion. Crawl does nothing and will not switch on

I have not tried to confirm it actually does anything other than look pretty

Again: 22 platinum hybrid non trd. Have avs, load leveling air, and birds eye cameras all around. Switch was super simple and I was able to switch it without taking console out and even without removing 4x4 switch for help with the REALLY short plug!

Any tips on the install? Have one waiting to go in my 2025 and would prefer not to remove the entire center console.

 

Alright, for those with an SR5 who are on the fence - I just installed mine today and it works! I saw all the modes come up while in 4HI and could feel a different response from the truck in each one.

Time will tell if each mode is actually useful or not. Gotta get in those elements and test them out to see.

Just joined so thanks for having me. I have 24sr5 4x4 no TRD or OR but wanted to add this switch. I read everything but it seems everyone has some different setups. Would the switch work for my application? Probably just buy a used one from junkyard and try. I just want the MTS function to work. I don’t care about the crawl mode.

 

Welcome! see my post above. We have the same truck. Installed yesterday and it worked fine for me.

 

Now I'm curious as to if this would work on a SR trim. I haven't had the console apart to see if there is even the plug for it. I am now thinking of investigating this further, as I would love to add the tow/haul drive mode switch to see if it would work or not. I did some searches but haven't found where anyone has tried this yet on a 3rd gen SR. Pretty cool you guys were able to do this, thanks for sharing.

 

great news it works. I see you did some wiring etc I need to read that when I have time. My big items are the MTS switch and then a dual phone charger then some bigger tires. Notice the FAUX stickers and TRD grill.

 

Right on, thanks man! Just to confirm, it doesn't give you the camera view (the fake pieces together under the truck thing) that the TRD Pro has correct?

 

PVM (360° cameras) is in a pkg and is included in the TRD OR pkg.

I have PVM, but this is more like a crawl camera that shows the terrain below the car while Offroad. I do NOT have that, and this switch does not allow it
