    Finally did mine as well.
Just a quick post with my take on mounting the control nob, and to let you know that instead of taking 1/2 the rear apart to get to the OEM subwoofer's wiring/etc, you can pick the same signal wires right in the bottom door sill wire loom. 2 twisted pairs of those black/gray+green/brown wires; easy to split open the protective wrap, then tap.

Overall an improvement over OEM sub.....but, my JL 10W7 and 500.1 amp (sitting int he garage) laugh hysterically at Kicker's output/performance.
(but I'm not interested in going all out on audio, as I did in all my previous vehicles; this is "good enough")

Here's what my install looks like:

I like what you did with the control knob. I still have mine sitting loose in the center console because I haven't found a mounting spot I'm happy with. I do find the output a bit underwhelming though. Considering adding another Kicker unit.

    Thanks.
I couldn't find a good spot for it, and Kicker's original design seemed unnecessarily bulky.

Thought this would be a good place for it, and my 12yr old agreed. Always trust a pre-teens opinion.lol.
Took it apart, took the console apart a bit, and found there is enough space there to drill+mount as you see.

What does it take to remove the OEM cover over the JBL subwoofer? Does it slide up or pull outwards? Don't want to break the latch tabs of course :) thanks.

Pull towards the front, and most of it pulls away, but then there's something holding that panel on the bottom.
I didn't feel like taking seat back off/etc....so like I wrote above, I just found the subwoofer's audio cables in the wire loom that runs in the door sill (rear driver side), cut it open, and tapped into those wires there.

    Quick final update.
Didn't like the Kicker plastic knob.....so a few dollars later and a visit from Amazon fairy, and we have this end result:

For those that added additional SUB or remove stock JBL sub, do you feel the need to upgrade the speakers?
What level of sound are you guys dialing at?

Do those kickers just sit in the plastic tray behind the seat? Do they move around or rattle any? Are they 10”? Thanks

If it's a single voice coil woofer, wondering if one pair of wires is just the engine sound, not L and R?

Looking at doing this myself. I normally can find a plug and play harness. Seems like those are not ready yet. Which color wire am i tapping into? Brown and green? How did you all splice it? just cut the line and use a wire nut? i know those self tapping splicers are useless.
