AC Condensation Dripping Passenger Side

First of all my thanks to Professional Hand Model for helping me with a mirror motor diagnosis. My first thread but here is another. I've notices water dripping on the front of the passenger floor mat. Thought one of our heavy rains recently was the culprit. This morning I drove 2 hours to Durham NC with the AC on and using outside fresh air. It's pretty muggy here now. I saw water drops on the mat. Opened the glove box, pushed in the tabs to drop it all the way and the black plastic air duct that runs laterally left to right and feeds the far right vents was really sweating.

You’ll need to remove your front cowl and front windshield wipers. Underneath are ‘tabs’ that hold the screws. Those ‘tabs’ are all ok if they leak... except for one which is located directly above your blower motor under your glove box.

I caulked mine down, but didn’t caulk the inside of the screw hole. Must have been a crack inside the hole which continued the leak at slower rate. Perplexed, I removed the blower and snapped a picture during a heavy rain to see the drip. I loaded it up with caulk (Urethane Based) with catalyzes with moisture. Had to reach far up, but was able to make it happen.

Fixed!

None of those other tabs need caulking as they just drip down into the Cowl Gully with the other rain water going into the intake screen area. Its just a bonus if you do.

The one over the blower needs caulk all the way around the entirety of the tab.

 

Thanks to everyone who has responded. Much appreciated. I've had the Tundra 5 weeks and noticed the dripping the first week. I went to some threads and saw the posts on the leaking tab. I will check that out. However, this is condensation. The truck has been under my carport for the most part. I have included a pic of the black duct in question. I have been home hours so the water is gone but this morning the entire duct was coated in condensation. No rain at all. Keep in mind, I had outside air coming in on my 2 hour trip and the humidity is up. I noticed on my 2000 Avalon on muggy days when using outside air that I start to get condensation on the back of the dash glass to the right of the temp and time area. When I switch to recirculating the inside air it clears up. I need to experiment with recirculating the air and no outside fresh air and see if I get the same result as the Avalon.

 

Never had this problem before. Interested in the solution. Sounds like clashing air temps. I live in a pretty humid region surrounded by water. Truck parked outside always. A/C blasting during heat.

I never use Recirc unless its winter cold and trying to do the quick cab heat. Massage your A/C drain nipple under the firewall. Do you have drips?

 

Now that is a possibility I have not considered. I will check it out. In the mean time I will run the truck without rain with the AC in both modes and see what happens. I will take pics and continue on this thread. This is such a great place for info and I am grateful for the help.

 

I would just go through the thread I linked, check the things in the top couple paragraphs, like the A/C condensation nipple, any drains, etc. then go through the list items. Every thread linked in this thread is there, and the 'definitive' thread is chock full of other stuff to check for and proactively fix.

Sucks this looks like something different, but I agree with PHM, condensation like what you're describing seems strangely like cold water (condensate) buildup, either due to the evap coil housing being jammed, condensate drain line being jammed, or the condensate nipple on the firewall is jammed, it's just in front and down of the position of the glovebox(ish). You should see it dripping after you drive with the A/C on for a while, there'll usually be a wet spot under the truck below it, although the dripping often hits and bounces off things below it.

PHM has a great post or series of posts explaining how to really get in and clean out the evap coil housing.

When running your A/C it's best to have it in recirc. Then its pulling in already cool air and cooling it a bit. In outside mode its pulling in hot air and really working to cool it. It's all about that delta.

As for condensation, I wonder if a faulty drier(dryer? Is it spelled different for A/C?) could be causing it. @FrenchToasty

 

Problem with constant recirc is oxygen deprivation to the brain housing. Plus, most women and beta males run their AC in recirc if you notice.
