Tundra ain't moving too fast here. Dozens and dozens of 18s sitting on lots here that have been for months.

As others have said, spring for the limited with dual climate, leather seats/steering wheel, heated seats, etc. They're probably bending you over on all the accessories on the SR5, so just add those later if you want them. Good luck!

    Just saw this:
That's an awesome deal, I say jump on it! Cement is an awesome color, but those white platinums look great. If I could do it over again I'd have gone with a white platinum....

Get the platinum (as long as its 4x4)...
you will grow tired of the limited over time with its lack of features. The limited by any other manufacture would pretty much be base trim level. No sense in buying a base level truck to "mod it" with aftermarket crap later costing you more time and money. Just get all the goodies from the factory with warranty and be done with it. Platinum gets you power folding mirrors (which should be included on base trim afaic), and a bunch of other features.

price for the platinum is hard no to resist. getting all the creature comforts is a plus.
if you really dont care and gonna upgrade everything(which i know you will) limited or sr5 save some bucks to put into other stuff.
whats the plans? kings/ superwhite with copper rays?

Yeah I am leaning towards the Platinum right now just because of the awesome deal. Less than $1,000 difference between my best quote for a limited cement and a platinum super white. For a few hundred more I get better interior, ventilated seats, color matched bumper/grille, higher resale value... I just have had so many white trucks in my life, so that's why it's hard for me to commit right now. I really like the cavalry blue, but they aren't budging much on that color. Cement is beautiful too, but it only comes on SR5 and limited.... So much to think about!

As far as my plans for the truck, I am probably gonna take it really slow on this build. Trying to do some grown man stuff and handle some other responsibilities so it might be mostly stock for a bit. Kings will come way down the road, unless I hit the jackpot or something. For now, I plan on doing Toytec Coilovers or Bilstein 6112s. SCS Wheels are a must.

I had similar issues as you in regards to color and pricing. Did not want white or black and they wouldn't deal much on the other colors. Ended up with silver limited. I couldn't find many with premium package either, except black or white. Definitely couldn't get close to price on the silver platinum or the cement limited i liked. Really wanted platinum but 6k wasn't worth it to me for the colors locally. Maybe they will start to deal a little on 18s if Toyota starts pumping out 2019s and people aren't buying as fast as last year.

I emailed like 15-20 dealers through CarGurus.com and then just went crazy with it.

Things to note if you want the best price possible:
    1. Create a separate, anonymous email just to contact dealers.
    2. Set your name as something random. For me, I just put Vv Ll.
    3. DON'T GIVE ANYONE YOUR PHONE NUMBER. Unless you want a bunch of spam calls from the dealer and from ad agencies.
    4. Always keep tabs on stock number, vin, trim, etc. of the exact specific truck you are inquiring about so that you can keep track of everything. Also so that dealers can't try to confuse you and sell you on a similar but different truck.
    5. Just be straight to the point, "What is the best price you can do on this truck?" - they're going to try to get your number or set an appointment, but be firm and just tell them "I am not going to give out any personal info or set foot in a dealership until I reach an agreement with a dealer/sales person."
    6. Do this to every dealer around you, and set a bidding war. "Toyota of X is willing to give me $xxxx off their truck, what can you do for me?" And remember that emailing is great because you avoid the he/she said game, and you have a paper trail of what sales people are promising you and such just to reference back to or show another dealer to get a better deal.
    7. Filter out the ones who do not follow up/respond, and the ones who don't budge to your liking. You will eventually narrow it down to what you want.

Make sure that whenever you decide on which truck/dealer to purchase from, make sure you have in writing an agreement on price. And then I would call them, introduce myself over the phone after the agreement has been made, and schedule a time to come in to pick the truck up and sign paper work. And that's it!

Dealers want your business. And with 2018 Tundras sitting EVERYWHERE, you will get a deal. I have a friend who purchased a 2018 Tundra SR5 w/ Upgrade/TRD Off-Road Package that had an MSRP of $50k for $36k with employee discount/pricing. THEY ARE ALWAYS MAKING MONEY OFF OF YOU. Remember that. When they tell you they only have 2-3k of room, that's total BS. If an employee discount gets you the truck for almost $14k off, then they are making plenty of money already. And let's face it, we're all Tundra fans here, but they are not the most popular trucks. I would argue that they are behind every full sized truck besides the Titan right now in terms of market share. Knowing that there isn't a huge market for Tundras out there, combined with the knowledge that 2019s are coming in and dealers don't want the 2018s around anymore, you can score a hell of a deal right now. They just ended $2000 rebate for labor day and now have a $3000 rebate going on for the month of September for whatever reason. They are trying to get rid of these, and they're desperate. Use your leverage as a buyer and don't settle.

    1. 2018 Limited Cement Crewmax 4x4 w/ Premium+Convenience Package - $429xx
    2. 2018 Platinum Super White Crewmax 4x4 - $435xx

    Decisions....

2018 Platinum Super White Crewmax 4x4 - $435xx would be the way to go, the lowest I've heard someone get a platinum here is 42.

I just bought a ‘18 SR5 in Cement for $37,500. Added heated leather seats (black leather with red stitching) for $1000. $38,500 and I was basically matched to a limited (except limited has even more ugly chrome than the sr5). Plus for some reason the leather in the limited is cheap looking and ugly to me. If you hate chrome, get the Platinum that’s a no brainer. I’m surprised your sr5 was quoted that high, I’d think you’d easily be able to get one way under $40k.

Love my 2018 Limited CM with the Premium package. Got it at the same price point you're talking about back on 7/4/18, so you might be able to get more off. Plus I got .9% financing for 60 months; that's practically free money, so I kept my cash.

Don't let the JBL audio system be your deciding factor though...it's...just...bovine feces.

Not much discounts happening in So Cal.
Trying to contact out of state dealers is like pulling teeth.

That Platinum is an awesome price! Yours is about a grand less than what I paid for mine a couple of months ago, and I thought I was getting a great deal. The difference in price might be because of the additional package it came with, which added 4 tie down cleats, a moonroof with sliding sun shade and classic running boards. My wife absolutely loves the leather embroidery on the interior, and so did the CHIP who pulled me over for speeding the other day, LOL!
I would hesitate at purchasing a white truck though, but that's just me...

You from CA? I got my deal at my local Toyota dealership purely by accident. I was in hard negotiations to lower the price on a Limited and the salesman's manager just came out the blue and offered me an alternative of the Platinum MGM for $44,xxx MSRP. I think he knew he had me by the drool dripping off my lower lip...

Many of the websites like CarGurus, Edmonds, etc... will show how long the trucks have been on the lot. Dealers lose money the longer the truck stays on the lot, so they're more willing to make a deal on those. So find those trucks that have been on the lot forever and negotiate! I found that out after the fact on the 2018 Platinum I bought in July 2018. That truck had been on the dealer lot since January 2018. They were anxious to get rid of it!

    Just bought a 2018 Crewmax 4x4 SR5 with/TSS (just a regional cosmetic package I believe)

    2018 Toyota Tundra CrewMax 5.7L 4x4
    *Magnetic Gray
    MSRP $48,393

Other addons...bed lines, 20" rims, All-weather (I think thats what they are called) mats, side steps, tint, some other stuff

Dealer quoted $39.3 before TTL; $41.8 was Drive out.
