About the Vegas shooting

I think all of us as Americans are shocked and saddened about the shootings in Vegas.
Folks, passing more anti gun laws and placing more restrictions upon those Americans who choose to exercise their rights to keep and bear arms is not the answer.
You see there are already thousands of laws and restrictions regarding firearms that do nothing to reduce or stop crime.
Hers a few crimes that are illegal that are still committed daily,

Murder, assault, rape, drugs and drug related offenses, prostitution, drinking and driving, robbery, rioting and inciting riots to name a few.

You want to change the world, you want to make a difference, it starts with you, not some law that a politician wants to pass for votes and feel good effects, no it starts with you in your home.

Stop glorifying music and performers who promote violence, teach your children about ownership and accountability, teach your children to do the right thing and stand up for themselves, teach your children how to win and how to lose, not everyone gets a trophy, winners know how to lose as well as win.
Teach your children respect for authority, others and themselves.
Teach your children about civic duty and responsibility

Teach your children by showing them all of those things and more so much more. Be the example, the right example.

Evil walks the earth and it dwells in the hearts of men, garbage in garbage out. We are reaping what has been sown and it is not pleasant.

I agree completely with what you’re saying. I expect that things will get worse, not better.
I think I’m seeing 2 things that make this case different: first, it’s actually really “assault weapons”. First time I can think of that full auto was used in a mass killing. Were they legally obtained (FFL licenses) or illegal modifications. How will this play out in the news and with the gun control advocates?
Second, most, if not all, of the mass shootings I can remember have a red flag in the background of the shooter. Mental evaluation, parent caution, teachers or doctors records that, in theory, may have helped identify the freak. Not this guy apparently, totally under the radar. How will this play out?

 

That’s only good for the sellers. Means that the prices are going up too, which sucks.

If they were fully automatic (which seems to be the case) they are most definitely illegal mods. Full auto has been illegal since '86.

 

I know you're trying to be serious but I couldn't resist. The world is a f'd up place right now and humor is an outlet.

@RLHOK you're right on about teaching the next generation but unfortunately there seem to be too many parents caught in their own narcissistic lives. You've had kids. Everything you do is a sacrifice for them. Your life is on hold for at least 18 years. Your job is to teach and to provide. It's work. Not enough people seem to realize that.

Change is difficult. Progress is difficult. If you leave a giant f'ing mess for the generation behind you, all you get is more of the same.

The larger issue is getting that next generation interested in enacting change. If you look at the world, see the mess, the chaos, the apathy, do you really want to stick your neck out?

In the grand scheme, I'm guilty. Politics disgusts me. Corporate greed makes me nuts. The bureaucracy makes me crazy. I don't want any part of it. What I want is for my kids to understand my disgust, to understand that the things to make this a better place don't come from politics oe religion. It comes from them. They are the key. One human that touches another in a positive way is what matters.

With that, it's time to go back to be being a smart ass. Where's that moderator with the tiny t-rex arms?

 

I’ll go with “most likely” but not “ most definitely”. Don’t know about you, but I bought guns 15 years before that. This guy was 64.

Illegal mods on the weapons..metric ton of ammo..I'm still waiting on computer forensics...give a better picture..let the dirty little secrets come out. I've got my suspicions but i'll hold off till the facts come out

Not entirely accurate. Full auto/select fire weapons are still legal to own, buy and sell. They do need to have been manufactured before 1986 tho. Post ban models can still be manufactured but not transferred to the public which IMO is BS.

Not sure about all but in the photos from the hotel room one weapon has a "bump stock". They are legal and easy to purchase, as easy as buying ammo, I shot an AR with one and it was just like shooting a full auto weapon.

 

Imagine this was a prius forum

 

Like someone mentioned above, slidefire or bumpfire stocks in the picture of his AR that I seen online. I could tell from one of the videos I watched, the ROF wasn't consistent. Which more than likely means a bumpfire stock.
