That Springfield is very nice. $800 is a great value.

    image.jpg Glock 22 .40 cal. Gen 3 (Same size as a G17)

I found the owner. He was imbareassed.

    A better size comparison G19 and 22

Pretty hard to guess on Glocks unless it is a G26/27/42/43. I would have guessed 17 if the 22 wasn't engraved on the side.

This one has some custom work done as well.

    Dammit. Now I want a G17. SOAB!!!

Well I took the wife up to our new FBI style shooting range, air conditioning, very nice. So she shot 2 guns, 38 S&W snub nose with crimson trace laser and a Glock 43 9 mm. She liked the feel of the revolver, but shot the Glock better. She's more comfortable with revolver and that's probably what I will get her. As for me, I liked the Glock by far, and was far less recoil. Going to shoot again sunday.

I'm surprised she felt more comfortable with the snub nose. I would expect the trigger pull on the revolver to be heavier and longer. Also if it is a 648 or 448, it has a small grip which is not pleasant to hang onto, especially while firing +P. With that being said it's great that she likes the revolver, it will never jam, that's for sure!

Yeah I was surprised when she said the Glock had more kick. On the trigger, that revolver which was an air light S&W had a custom trigger, very easy pull. I will say this..... that SOB was loud, guess cause the short barrel. Thanks for commenting

I'm not a big fan of these pocket pistols. There is no reason a person can't conceal a compact pistol and have the extra capacity.

My waist size is 31, I carry a Glock subcompact .380 (42) or a subcompact Ruger LCP .380 daily. I keep an extra loaded mag in my pocket and I feel proficient with reloading and accurate on the range with them.

I tend to carry more often when I have a smaller, lighter, more comfortable pistol on me. Plus I have a light/laser combo on the G42, which gives me a ton of confidence assuring I can ID my target even in the dark if needed. Concealing a larger pistol with a tac light/laser is much more difficult and uncomfortable.

For me, that is why I choose the smaller pistols for EDC.

With that being said if I am going somewhere I consider risky I will sometimes carry a larger pistol, especially if I am wearing a coat or hooded sweatshirt that allows me to conceal better.

To each their own right? At least you carry daily and that is what matters @MotoTundra. Above all, carrying a weapon your comfy with and shoot well.

    Size comparison time:

    Pocket pistol vs compact

    image.jpg

The length of the barrel isn't a huge concern when concealing IWB (within reason. Dirty Harry guns need not apply) and the frame is quite close. What? Maybe a 1/2" taller?

My wife doesn't like my G19, but she shoots it a hell of a lot better than the Sig pictured. I piss her off when I hit my target with her gun, but that little hand canon you pay a price with when practicing.

I recently swapped from a 1911 to a Glock 19 for a few reasons. Surprisingly the 19 is thinner than a single stack 1911, capacity is one of my main concerns with the recent number of assaults and even more shocking is the number of people involved in each attack. I just watched a video of a man getting knocked out at the 16th st. mall in downtown Denver and about 3-4 people assaulting him.

Question for anyone: when shooting how do you reload and when?

I carry for the occasion. Its impossible to predict what potentially can happen. But a trip to the grocery store in the summer, quick hike with the mutt, etc., my skinny ass carries the p238 with a single clip IWB holster. Camping, going to the mall, crazy holidays like 4th of July and New Years, or any extra potential for multiple threats, typically the G26 (with an extra mag on the holidays).

@ColoradoTJ Typically reload when the mag's empty. Tact-reload if the situation dictates.

Damn @jberry813 , same Sig as ours. (Besides caliber)

When reloading, I try to always leave one in the chamber. One less move. So I have 15+1, and try counting out 15 then reload. My next mag is a G17 mag, and that means I have 18 to go until I need to start heading to the truck (if I'm not in the truck).

Good video of reloading with keeping one in the chamber. It is a lot harder with 30 rd AR mags.

Counting has an adverse effect for me...my aim starts to go to shit.
On the flip side, I'm no faster or slower to reload with an empty mag and slide locked back. I use my strong hand thumb to hit the slide release (with anything but 1911s) as I (re)acquire target. 1911's I use my weak hand thumb to hit the slide release.

I'm no preacher for either method. I'm a fan of just practicing what works for you.

@ColoradoTJ, reload example I had on my phone. I'm sure you can figure out which one is me. This is with my P228R and my buddy (be nice, he is new to firearms and reloads) with his P229R. Both in 9mm with 10 round mags. First shot was DA. Both sigs have the SRT trigger.

Well, thank god we have navy seals. Lol

Just kidding. Looks proficient to me...

How did the target look or where you guys just rattling off rounds as fast as you physically can?

Only reason I leave a round chambered is in the event a target gets to close during the reloading process and another reason I don't own a weapon that locks out operation if the magazine is out.

Good discussion. Like learning new methods that accomplish the same task efficiently.

We had a couple of dead trees side by side down range. Mine were mostly on point. I know I had at one flyer first round on the second mag.

    And fuck magazine lockouts

I almost went with a Crossbreed for my last IWB. I ended up going with Black Arch (formerly SHTF). It is very similar to the Crossbreed, but you can adjust the retention via screws without having to remold the Kydex after break in, etc. I'm very happy with it.
Have you had to remold any of yours or are they all still holding them in snug?

Nope. All hold good. I use my belt (5.11) to set retention.
