Like others said, you need to try both and see what you like besst. You need to compare the models you are considering. I have both and prefer Glock, but that shouldn't mean much.

I love my gen 4 Glock 22 .40 cal. Crazy reliable, 15 rounds, and very easy to break down and clean.

Go with the Sig, you won't regret it. If you run out of ammo you can throw it and it will take down a zombie.

I've got both, don't know what it is but I'm more accurate with the Sig and it fits my hand like it was custom made.

Good thing you have the 15 round mag and not an evil 16 rounder. SARC of course. (Colorado does have some issues for you non CO folks, but all is not lost yet by any means)

Oh thats gonna change eventually gonna get +5 mag extensions :) And because of where I am in CO, there's next to no chance of getting arrested for it. That shit won't fly with our sheriff.

We still have good sheriffs here in CO. After all, they are elected by the people not appointed. They understand that most crimes/bad guys are long gone by the time they arrive on the scene.

That we do. Thats illustrated by how 55/62 sheriffs sued the state a few years ago.

For the Glock vs Sig, I always tell people to use what YOU shoot well. I had a Glock 23C that I could shoot, but nothing I would brag about. I sold it to one of my Officer buddies and he is surgical with that gun. On the flip side, 1911s just were not his thing.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of the two choices. Me personally, I would choose Sig...

I had a XDm 3.8 compact 9mm that shot really well, price was great but ultimately I sold it. The reason was when the gun was not chambered while carrying it it made a clicking noise. Never could figure it out, nor could my local gun smith. Drove me crazy. I since switched to a H&K VP9 and absolutely love it!

As far as a vehicle mount I too was looking at the Gum Creak but as pointed out knee airbags kinda put a damper on that. The second one I was looking at is made by cup_holster and is milled and not cheap at all.

The other is made by Madhouse Design but must be drilled into place not sure I wanna do that to a '16 1794...

Glock 19 Gen 3 all the way !! Interesting note not sure if anyone has posted on here about this but Navy Seals are switching to Glock 19 Gen 3 And going away from the SIG .

That may be due to pricing. The Gov usually goes with the lowest bid...FYI. However, I would carry a G19 any day into battle.

Funny, I am looking at a G19 today for consideration of my next carry weapon.

Did it make that clinking noise with a round in the chamber? Just my opinion, but idk why you'd carry without one in the chamber.

Not looking to hijack the thread (hopefully DesertToy has already made his decision), but I am also looking for my first gun. Have shot a bunch of different types, but local range has recommended the G19, the S&W Shield, or the SIG P220. From reading here and talking to a lot of people, (plus shooting them) they are all good guns, so I'm more looking for how well they conceal. If any of you have these, where do you carry? side, back, front? How tough to conceal in spring/summer?

    Metric shit ton of parts
    I own several...of both.
    P228, P226 Elite, P220 carry, P238 Extreme, and P239 (just sold).
    G19, G26, G36, and G20
It all boils down to what YOU are more comfortable with. I can go on and on about what works for me and why I like something, but it's all shit when it comes to your perspective. The only way you will know is to try them out. You won't go wrong with either brand.
I buy/use pistols for two purposes. Carry and target. Out of those listed (as well as a handful of 1911's), the P238, formerly the P239, and G26 get the most holster time. The G26 with the Pearce +1 extension conceals pretty easy with my skinny ass (IWB at 4 o'clock), but will still print if I'm bending down in just a t-shirt. The G26 is also the gun I give the least fucks about. It's cheap, sees every camping trip, and it's got close to 10k rounds through it (which I think I've probably only cleaned 3 times) :anonymous: The 238 and G36 are invisible no matter what I wear. I call the 238 my t-shirt carry. 239 was pretty much the same, just slightly larger.
I don't/can't carry my G19, G20, the 228, 226 or 220 carry unless I'm wearing a hoodie or jacket. Will always print. The sigs (and 1911's) are full metal framed and are not light either.
That said, I'm still in love with my 228. Out of all the compacts, I'm the most accurate with it and it's got over 25,000 rounds down the pipe.

I went out and looked at a gen 4 19 today. Like it. However, I have been very interested in the G30s. That is just about right for me. I only have one 9mm in my loot of guns (sig 938) and would like to stay in the 45 ACP.

I got both Glocks and sigs. Sig is a better quality gun, but Glock is super reliable.

Just got issued the new Sig P226 40 cal. and love it. We had the option have the rails that come standard or special order without. Luckily I get to buy it when I retire in seven years for $1.00

While we are talking about pistols , ever seen one of these ? My buddy shoots this and I have to say it's beautiful . SVI Infinity it's $$$$$ thou for a handgun .I've shot it a few times and I have to say it's nice , although it has its place , I would not carry it , maybe put it in a display case with lights above my fireplace :)

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to see if the range I go to will rent me a gun and holster to try out, or just pick one and hope it works out. I have shot them and like the ones I've shot. I don't have the cash right now to buy a high end one, just looking for a first time conceal and carry gun. I'm sure I will eventually buy another, but can't afford more than 1 right now.

The best part of quality pistols is they hold their value. If you buy one and realize you don't like it for whatever reason...sell it! I sold my 239 and xDM .45 for a profit. Sold my G17 for the same price I paid for it after shoving 500 rounds or so down the pipe.
A lot of gun shops will actually let you do holster conceal tests if they come with a holster (Sprinfield for example). That's actually what sold me when I bought my EMP.
