Dude, seriously impressed. I am going back and forth between this same focal set up and the JL c5650 set up with the JL steath box. Im sure you looked in to them too since they are in the same backet of speaker. What made you go Focal?

Also why didn't you install a recurve? Is it cause you are gonna replace the HU?

Thank you! Let me know how you like the halo9. I think I’m going with the Dasaita Android head unit.

Thanks! I don’t think you will go wrong with either JL or Focal. I have all JL speakers in my boat, granted they are marine speakers. I think they both sound great. I think it all comes down to budget. I got a pretty decent deal on eBay so I went with Focal. I honestly do think Focal is a bit more clean and crisp.

Focal is highly rated, they have won some awards. Car Audio Fabrication on YouTube uses a lot of Focal products in his builds.

Yes, I will be replacing the head unit, but as of now, I don’t think a recurve is needed even with the stock head unit.

Some people are interested in what I used in the build and how much they cost. So attached is the list with costs and links. Don’t blame me if you rack up your credit card..lol

IF (and that’s IF) you have the willingness to do so, can you itemize your build a bit? Sound is in my future and I would love to start planning the build.

I havent done anything for audio in the last 15 years, so I don’t even know what all is out there.

Thanks for the posts- very inspiring!

What do you mean by itemize my build? I just want to make sure I understand your question. On another note, I think you need to have a basic understanding of audio system and wiring in order to tackle this project.

Just a list of the speakers, amps, harnesses etc.. you used.

I spent my twenties installing audio in my own and friend’s cars. So routing wires, grounds, mounting amps, etc.. is familiar to me, I just haven’t shopped or stayed abreast of the tech in forever.

Thank you for sharing all this. I am glad it turned out well. I’m starting the process of figuring out a new audio system, but I am not installing myself. I would like to keep my head unit, sine I like the features, but dislike the sound. Thanks for sharing a system can sound good even with the stick head unit.

So, do you think the ********* amps are producing the power that they claim?

Yes, I do think so. Surprisingly for such small footprint amps. I’ve only had them for about 3 days so I don’t know the longevity, but you have no issues with them so that’s a good sign.

One thing I would like to point out to the forum, if you know how to wire your own amps, there is no need to go with ********* amps. Pick whatever amps you like and just buy the wire harness from *********. If I were to do this over again, I would have went with JL amps. They would cost about the same. You will need to put one amp under each seat or under the back seats. More work this route though.

You did an awesome job with your whole set up! Did you just screw in the speaker crossovers to the door?

Question for you guys. What’s the best way to post video on this forum? I’ll post a demo video when I get a chance if I get enough interest.

Thank you! Yes I did. I had to make sure to pick the locations that clear the door panels. The Focal crossovers are big. The reason why I chose to put the crossovers on the doors cause I didn’t want to run extra wires and also would have to put them under the driver seat.

The crossover mounting plates from ********* will not work with these Focal crossovers.

Good to hear someone from the forum is using the same component speakers! I’m enjoying my system so far. I think I’m pulling the trigger on the Dasaita head unit. I like the 10.2” screen.

Nice! I have Infinity Kappa components on mine and just used 3M double sided foam tape but that didn't last long, b/c I can hear it flapping around when I close my door or when a song with some good bass comes. Wasn't sure if the TT mount would work or if I should just screw into the panel, which I might do now

I really love the small foot print and I like the rack they use... I guess that rack could work with other amps? Do you think the JL amps would sound better?

I used 4 screws on each crossover, they are on there tight and I’m hoping they don’t come loose over time. If they do, I’ll use bolts and nuts to secure them.

To be honest, I’ve never own JL amps, only JL speakers. But I know that JL is one of the top rated audio company. Yes, that rack will work with other amps. Just have to drill different mounting holes.

@kw819 you should just use bolts and nuts to have piece of mind that they won’t come loose again.

ya man I think that's what I'll be doing, need to pop the panels off this weekend and see what size bolts and nuts I need to fit in the crossovers.

Why did you pick that head unit. I've never heard of them. Is it a reputable head unit? I assume it is based on everything else you've installed in your truck. Wondering because I have my truck upgraded with taco tunes amps and speakers just need a headunit now. This one looks cool. But I was leaning towards kenwood or pioneer due to them being tried and true

I’ve never heard of Dasaita before too. There are not a lot of YouTube review on this head unit but the one from John Nguyen was convincing. There are also a lot of good reviews on AliExpress. The reasons why I like this HU are: big screen, tablet style, running android so you can download apps, apple CarPlay compatible with extra adapter, I believe you can add front camera as well.

I honestly don’t know how well this HU will work with the truck and new audio system I just installed, but I’m willing to take the gamble. Pick whatever headunit that you are comfortable with. If you are willing to wait, I’ll test it out once I receive the HU.

Link to HU on aliexpress, a lot of positive reviews:
