I have had to on several vehicles lately. Most recently on my Sequoia with Bosch pads, the edge of the pad just wasn't finished very well. Manufacturing just isn't what it used to be.

I had a similar experience when I took my old truck for the 90K service. Walked out paying 1,200 for mostly the same work besides the pads and rotors. I was quoted like 600 for front and back pads. Went inside to the parts department and bought both sets for $135 and did them myself the same weekend. From now on I will do all fluids and pads and rotors myself.

New truck has a used warranty so I don't have to worry about much for 5 years

Never had to alter the oem pads to fit though so thats a new one for me

I believe you....time is time and money is just money. Your family has to be priority. BUT, the repair/maintenance costs are way crazy. I took in my wife's Highlander for spark plug replacement and along with a few other maintenance issues while we were in town at the hospital. The maintenance package online was $300+......okay, I am good.....it will check off some things and head down the road after the family emergency. I get a call from the advisor later that day....he tells me that the spark plug replacement will be $600+ because of their location and the labor time. We went back and forth on their website pricing and finally the service manager said nope....pay the price or don't. I didn't have it done.....but I had the pleasure of leaving a Google review and the infamous Toyota survey. Of course, I got multiple calls back from the dealership....oh now you want to talk....got it. Nope!

Good and trusted mechanics are golden now days.

I did the sparks on my gen3 tundra around 6 months ago....what a pita
I'm sure the dealership would've wanted an arm & leg for the service just as KingsAustin encountered

Sounds like you drive like my ex wife. She only knows 2 pedals. In other words her foot is always on 1. I had to replace her brakes at 30k and sometimes already into the rotor. This was on flat ground. Myself on the other hand can go 120k and that is towing a boat and with my commute in stop and go traffic.

Yep, not sure I will make it there on Tundra but I have on almost every other truck I owned. Highway miles, coasting, flat land, avoiding hard stops, and keeping eyes several cars ahead.

    I had 2 Fords that I never replaced rears on. 1 with 155k and 1 185K.
