I believe that was a typo. Sean meant more MGM and less white.

A new GMC DenaliHD 4X4 diesel was debued at the LA car show this week. $75 big ones. Toyota needs to check out the nifty electronics. 8" nav display. Too many things to list here. Colorado TJ will no doubt check it out....heh..heh..

I'm not a Ford fan by any means, but I couldn't help but think of the below article/announcement after reading this thread. Ford's reliability is a major concern for me (unlike Tundra), but in many, many ways the F-150 is light years ahead of the Tundra (it hurt to type that). Not trying to start a food fight, but the Tundra is falling further and further behind its competition.

Sadly I think you're right. There's a few things Toyota can do to drop weight of the truck and maybe gain a little MPG. Aluminum front fenders, tailgate and hood come to mind. I just can't trust an aluminum cab and doors in a side impact. I bought my truck new in 2016 and have replaced every light in the cab, reverse lights, headlights and fog lights with LEDs. Those are standard now 2 model years later. That was standard on other makes first.

That truck hasn't gone through any really drastic changes since the Gen 2 came out. Sure there's been some body changes and interior things, but nothing considered a game changer like a 10 speed transmission or in Ford's case an aluminum body.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Tundra, but Toyota can do better.

The Tundra has a Triple Tech Steel Frame, this is better than box frame. Why would you want a box frame?

Screw that. I don’t care how cool that GMC Denali is, 75k is a lot of cash.
My next move will most likely be in an area that doesn’t have diesel emissions. That crap is gone and put on the shelf until sold or needed.

More to come on the move in another thread. ;)

Tundra frames are engineered to flex in the rear when you tow.

You can’t trust a comparison video put out by any manufacturer. There are behind the scenes things that are done to make their product look superior. Take a bolt or three out and you’re gonna see some frame flex without modifying the vehicle.

My list: I have mixed feelings about adding stuff that just adds to cost and complexity, BUT...
    1. More MPGs, but keep a V8. I hate small turbo charged engines like the Eco-Boost crap. A truck NEEDS to have a V8.
    2. More gears, but only if it lowers MPG
    3. Optional E-locker or at least a standard mechanical LSD like a Tru Track type LSD.
    4. Rear storage in the CM.
    5. Better sound system, better interior lighting, 110v inverter, 12v power plug in the bed, and better quality plastic.
    6. Improved vehicle dynamics.
The smog control and cost of a diesel makes the diesel less appealing. I don't give a rats ass how the frame is constructed as long as it's rigid and long lasting.

Give me more MPG -OR- more power.
