Warren, you were right about the spec'd width of your tires, 12.4.

Were they still good on the drive home? If so, I'm going to order a set.

Huh,,,, My tape measure was telling me that YOU were right.:notsure:
I haven't seen any chunking from yesterday, OK maybe a little on the rims, but the tires held up well. There was just a wee bit of noise on the ride home. I noticed cause the stereo was off. I'm kinda surprised that they're as quiet as they are considering the tread.

Which are those? (I keep finding sets of 2, but would prefer 3.)

Warren correct me if I'm wrong but those look to be Relentless Fab and you can get them as a set of three as an option on their website.

Hey Sun, @Bo-Hunter is correct. They're Relentless bars and they have a date with rattle can.

Picked up some new tire deflators today. I haven't had a chance to test them but, for the sake of expedience, I'll test 'em tomorrow using a wheel barrow tire to be sure the gauge is accurate.

Also interested in your review. These are pretty affordable compared to many of the best sellers on Amazon.

I bought a set a couple of months ago. They are off about 5 lbs. Set them for 22 lbs and ended up around 17 lbs. Next time I will start at 30 and see where it goes. They are handy and seem to be of good quality.

Any chance the reading was off due to warm vs cold tires? Just asking 'cause a warm tire might read about 5 lbs higher than a cool tire.

That is possible. I suffer from CRS so I can't tell you whether the tires were still hot or warm. But you are right that will make a difference. If I had to guess what my actions were, I had just gotten off the road from 2 hour hwy drive so they were pretty warm. I usually air down as soon as I get to the beach. I intend to play around with them some more to see if they can be dialed in any better. All that being said regardless if they were set for 22 lbs my tire gauge read 17lbs. Hot or cold you would think they would read the same??:der:

Directions???. I better go back and look. What trailer are you working on? I don't know how I missed that. Your truck and build are one of my favorites. I will have to go back through your build thread.

My latest Franken fabs for the trailer, a double jerry can mount and a sliding solar panel mount beneath the RTT. There' a loop pin to keep it secure for traveling. You can just see the skate bearing used for sliding the panel on the "Z" track, 4 bearings per side.

    IMG_20180621_141629680.jpg

Here you can see the 2 pieces of aluminum angle (Home Defect) that I pop riveted together to create a "Z". Just 2 bolts per rail attach the Z to the bottom of the the RTT rails. I made custom, threaded, aluminum T-slot nuts
    IMG_20180621_141656357.jpg

Here's the custom Jerry can mount. This is made from the top of our recently replaced front loading washer. It was candy apple red. I taped it off and sprayed some textured, black, Krylon that matches the Scout trailer perfectly. The mount has 2 pop rivets into the side of the trailer, 2 into the fender and 2 in the corners where I cut and folded to create the back of the mount. I used auto door edge moulding to trim out/ cover up the sharp edges. Total cost of the mount is under $10. The rattle can of textured black being $8. I also put Bituthane tape between the mount and trailer wherever they contacted each other.

    All stock-ish. Powdercoated blue suspension.

    ditto...

I'll have to give this deflating device a try. Been using the ARB deflator and so far I've been getting desired psi settings, if not then 1psi off at max.

Thanks man. I found a deal I couldn't, actually the wife couldn't pass up on a Smittybilt Scout trailer that was pretty well built. Everything worked great........ so I tore the electrical out :D I didn't like the way the wires were run or the space dedicated for it.

BTW if your readings on the Brooks deflators were only off a few pounds then you probably adjusted them correctly, to the body and then tighten the nut which then hides your selected #. I kept adjusting to the top of the nut and couldn't figure out why, when set at 18lbs I was completely deflating the tire.:anonymous:

ARB is what everyone else is compared to. So, it's gotta be a good deflator. I worry about possibly losing the valve, if it can go wrong I'm likely to find a way to make it happen.
Thanks Dan. We'll see, kinda depends on what the trails are like. I can always move the RTT to the bed rack.;)

Well, made it back to the driveway after some interesting wheeling in Tahoe. We, @joonbug, @GiantsFanDan and @t4RPEE went up to Buck Lake and Ellis Peak. A little damage was incurred by all.:D There was a broken axle which was repaired on the trail, a couple dents here and there, 1 new tire destroyed, some reshaped bumpers, new tattoos on everyone's skids, wheels and sliders and of course, the requisite pinstripes.IMG_20180708_202349472.jpg
I pulled the RTT off the trailer and installed it on the truck for this trip, man was it nice. I also enjoyed the heck out of wheeling in Friday night around 3:30 am, trying to find 3 trucks in a place I've never been to. Believe it or not a couple times I actually got out and checked the ground for their tire tracks.....LOL
At one point I was so frickin tired my mind was playing tricks on me, I came out of the trees and it looked like Joon had driven into a swampy area and got stuck. IMG_20180707_160543813.jpg

Man! That RTT is the chit for simplicity. At 4 am I was in no condition to assemble even the simplest of tents. With the RTT I was literally asleep in about 5 min.

I hope to find some time later today to work on the rear bumper. It took a huge hit and bent a mounting bracket.:ohsnap: It'll be really nice when I can open the tailgate again.:D On the bright side, the sliders took some good hits and the drivers rear door is clearing the sliders a little better than before the trip.:rofl::rofl:
