Has nothing to do with finances, but rock on thinking you are the 1% because you drive a new Toyota. That new car smell is going to wear off soon enough.

I mean, you can feel like a 1%er, no matter what you drive. If the vehicle makes you feel that way, than so be it. Who doesn't remember that feeling as a kid, that first car. You didn't care it was a used beater your parent's got a sweet deal on, you felt like you were the baddest mammer jammer on the block rolling to the corner store in that "new" whip. The whole point is spend your money on what makes you feel good. I spend a little money on a truck, some people spend their money on meth...do what makes you feel good, son.

This sounds like the $59,999.95 C8 Corvettes. I was actually going to go for one because I couldn't find a MK1 R8 that I liked the service history on. It was going to be my retirement gift to myself for retiring from the Navy. So for like 20K less, I hauled my dumb ass down to Hendricks Chevy in VB VA, and asked about one, specifically the tinted white one with a blue graphics package on it. They quoted me 98K lot price and premium fee (base options model fyi). I laughed in the guys face, informed Chevy of the "premium" mark up fee, and was told that franchises price vehicles at what the market will "reasonably" pay. And that every franchise has leeway in their pricing margins. Ford did this with the GT's as well. They were supposed be right about 60K, a buddy of mine bought one and he was at almost 101K USD when he left the dealership, new, not collectors pricing either. People and pricing are insane these days.

As I said, everyone's finances are different. There are people buying houses in this market, paying hundreds of thousands over what they should. I'm not sweating over an extra few k's.

An 800a Raptor at 68K is more equipped than a TRD Pro. Has real leather, way better suspension, etc etc

Raptor is a way better truck for the same money. An 800a base Raptor is just as loaded as a TRD Pro but with way better suspension, real leather etc

it has a lot to do with finances for some because some just cant do the extra 5-10k+ markup and still maintain their current lifestyle. it also has a lot to do with the principal of why dealers should not be charging an ADM. and more reasons as well but my point is don't count out the fact that some people are simply and unfortunately getting priced out (i.e., finances) of the tundra market unless they get lucky with an msrp dealer. even then, the price is a stretch for some given overall prices have gone up everywhere on everything. current market on just about everything sucks for buyers.

If this thread weren't in the 3rd gen forums, I'd assume it was about 2021 Pros. I've been getting a ton of targeted ads for low mileage pros and they're all about $70K. Yeesh.

Totally agree. Everyone's finances are different.

One point that rarely comes up is how much owners of older Tundras can, or have gotten, when they trade or sell their vehicles. I am not currently in the market, but I have gotten some quotes online from Vroom and Carvana for my truck. Vroom offered to buy it for more than I paid for it 3 years ago. Supply and demand folks. It’s all relative...

Thankfully I bought more house than I needed back in 2013, and have a mortgage I refinanced for 2.25% so I have 3000sq-ft to live in for less than rent would be on 1/2 that right now.

Up here in Canada and the cold...... I saw this and took a picture because it's around 20g over what it should be. It's at an official Toyota dealership too (Cochrane Toyota). That's before 5% GST tax and some other dealer taxes too. Getting close to 90 G Canadian when it's all said and done.

I'm out, the 21 pro was 50k, nearly a 20k increase, f that, ya that wasnt a crewmax but neither is the 22, since they shrunk the inside cab. Trdpro does not belong price wise with raptor/trx. I've read some dealers were giving 8% off ordered trx's time to see how true that is.

Just configured a 5.0 Lariat Screw 4x4 with panoramic moonroof for 58k and sent the link to a Ford dealer To get their OTD number. They claim not to do dealer markup and seemed like straight shooters. If they come back with a reasonable number and offer to put the order in it will be kind of hard to resist compared to “Agree to spend 70k and we will eventually get around to building something close to what you want.”

A TRD PRO has literally never been a wise investment. Let’s be realistic. Doesn’t matter how much money you have. 0 financial advisers would tell you “good move”

Edit: This Gen is a 70k toy that you can also daily drive so there is that. The previous Gens were at least a manageable price for what you get.

Problem is it doesn't really have the makings of a good toy. No long travel suspension, lacks large tires, excessively heavy.

To be a good "toy" or recreational desert runner or off road rig a TRD Pro at this point needs $1500 worth of new tires, $2000 worth of front bumper with recovery points and a better approach angle, and if you want Ford Raptor level shenanigans from the suspension somewhere around $3000-$5000 worth of lift for the bigger tires, and new shocks for the suspension travel.

Or you could just buy a Raptor for less money and maybe change the front bumper if you want to.

I agree. It kinda makes me queezy that this is what it’s priced at. Doesn’t seem good for the future, because no doubt-they’ll sell every one of them they make.

It’s almost as if Toyota is encouraging people to not buy the truck. I don’t think they want to be in the 1/2 ton segment sometimes based on their decisions.

They will sell every one they make this year and next, but if the automotive market returns to normal anytime soon they’re in for a tough time.

Consumer spending is already slowing down as people are getting pissed about inflation. Soon interest rates are going to ratchet up too, and that’s going to put the squeeze on auto loans. Pretty soon the payment buyers won’t be able to service a loan on a $68K vehicle at 5.0% (or higher) APR.

This truck sucks a huge dong and Toyota has officially gone crazy. Toyota from design to roll out are just shit these days. Ugly cars and trucks, bad tech playing catch up and now huge expensive prices that take away any value you could have found. Gross. Toyota is fucking gross. my 21 is the last toyota I ever buy after 4 of them.
