Does it look like they reused the old ones or is it missing all together?

The top. They reused the old ones. How many miles were on the original shocks? I wouldn’t sweat it unless your truck had high miles

Finally got around to replacing the stock wheels and tires. SCS SR8 with Cooper AT3 XLT 275/70/18. Front is 6112's @ 1.9" setting with 1 CB shim on driver side and 5160's with CB +2 shackles in the rear.

Early impressions are good so far. I can definitely tell a difference between the P-rated stock Michelin's and stepping up to a 10-ply LT tire. The truck feels solid going down the road, but the ride is noticeably more firm.

Mine took some time too break in. I drove about 2500 highway miles and the front end was extremely harsh. I was very disappointed. Went on a weekend trip to the ranch where I was able to stretch the legs. After that the truck rides like OEM again but handles bumps and obstacles a lot better.

I’m currently shopping for a 2020 platinum and plan to add Bilsteins to it also

Thanks, yea I've had the Bilsteins on for over a year now and they've been great. I just recently replaced the stock wheels and tires, so my post was in relation to the ride quality after upgrading to an LT tire.

1st gen tundra 6112 up front 5120 rear. What setting should the 6112 be at for stock height? Do I need driver/passenger different settings as well?

Thanks. (thread too long to read!)

Do they make 6112 for 1st gen? Pretty sure they only fit 2007+.

They work for the 1st gen. I think this is it:

In that case, not sure if it is different for 1st gen but all settings provide some lift for 2nd and 3rd gens. I believe lowest is +.75", second lowest is +1.3", second from top is +1.9" and top setting is +2.5". You should set both sides to the same height.

Most what I read and from the chart above has two different setting due to the gas tank being on the drivers side, creating a difference in suspension load that can be "remedied" by having different setting on each side.

I know nothing about 2nd and 3rd gen but pretty sure my info on 1st gen is correct. But now I'd love a confirm from someone.

Also, I was going to have a friend put these on as he has a full shop. It wouldn't be free. But since I am buying the coilovers assembled, it seems that this is a job that a shadetree mechanic could do. Looks like the hardest thing up from is to get out the lower bolt that holds on the coilover. Thoughts? I haver jackstand, jack, breaker bar, sockets.

I used a Coachbuilder shim on the driver’s side to compensate for the lean but I also have the 38 gallon tank. Smaller tanks probably don’t need the shim. Does your truck sit level side to side now?
I’ve only seen one person on here set the coil overs at different heights...

I just measured and it is level. Frankly, the vendor is assembling the coilover and on the phone we discussed and he said #3 and #1 setting which agrees with all that I am seeing. And I decided to just let my friend put these on as there can be tricky parts here and there and it is too dang hot here to work outside for hours on suspension.

So looking forward to getting rid of the crappy monroe shocks and going right to the 6112/5120. Hoping for a big improvement in ride quality.

@robabeatle I was having similar thoughts and uncertain on how to counter the lean on my 2017 crewmax. I ended up setting drivers side at the 1.9 setting and passenger side at 1.3- It worked out great for me. @dirtydeeds is a buddy and explained the reasons best and walked me through it. Recommend you give him a call to discuss - his knowledge and experience run deep.

I had initially set both at the 1.3 setting and had 3 CB shims on standby in my garage. I did not install shims and did have a very noticable lean. I went with adjusting the drivers side to the 1.9 setting although I could have adjusted the passenger side to the .75 setting for similar results. I ended up not needing to left the rear (CB shackles) as the truck leveled with .75" rake and that was my goal. I have since installed 17" wheels with 295/70r17s (Mickey Thompson ATZ - 33.3 x 12). I love the wheels (Method 701) and the tires are great on the highway and the light trails I have run on. I can feel the additional weight though and MPG dropped to about 13 or so but well worth it in my opinion. Good luck man.

    Looking for advice...
    I am thinking Bilstein 6112/5160
+2 Shackle (I want to roughly keep factory rake)
Some say to do driver side CB shims just don't know what size (I have 38 gallon gas tank and don't want it to lean)
Im hung up between 18x9 or 17x9(Input welcome)
With that size rim and a approximate 3" lift what tires would fit without rub and won't destroy mileage.
are is there a negative to setting shock at highest setting?
I do tow a 6,000lbs trailer so I don't want to have it effect towing. (input welcome)

I guess I can join this thread now: 6112 up front 5120 out back. 2002 access cab, Stock height

I set the preload to #3 on drivers side and #1 on passenger side and I am getting every opinion under the sun about whether that is the right way or to put in a shim on the driver side and get the preloads the same.

Thought that the shim idea was a minority opinion. Reached out to coachbuilder and got a call back, but missed it. David left a voice mail saying that a shim is the way to go.

    Wow. Confused.

Just installed my 6112's this past weekend after having them sit in the box in my living room for over a year.
Love the ride, but now my 275/65/18 look a wee bit small.
I'm currently at 1.9" and would prefer to stay there. Wondering if anyone is running.rhem at 1.9 with a 285/75/18 on factory 60 offset?

That is a picture of how it sits right now with the lift? That looks nice! I want the same thing but I might run it higher with 285s but with 2” shackles in rear

    Yup, 6112 at 1.9", 5160 in rear on 275/65/18.
I'm still considering shackles in the rear, but waiting for.front to settle before I do anything else.

I did have some rubbing, yes. Had to trim/push out plastics but no rubbing on cab mount or anything like that. Also only rubbed in reverse.
