What you will need is a Dodge 8HP70/90/95, an adapter plate for both housing and TC (available at Domiworks), a TCU that is compatible with your ECU (Turbolamik is the most flexible and can do analog sensors if needed), I used the stock Dodge Charger/Challenger transmount with an adapter plate made locally, Engine management doesn't matter as long as it's compatible with the TCU or can control the transmission as well.

You can get a wiring harness for the Lamik but you will also need to solder in a PCB in the Mechatronics of the transmission. Some other TCUs don't require that like CANTCU but they currently only officially support BMW 8HPs.

That was my first option as well. However it had a few fallbacks in my case.

First it only comes in AWD, no easy way to convert it to 2WD as there is no 2WD tail housing.

Second, there is no aftermarket support however from what I've seen and been told, with only a tune the AE80 can handle 1000HP for awhile before failing. A few guys got it to slip at about 1200HP. My future HP goals are around 1500 so it would have been a gamble.

Third, until recently there was no way to control the AE80. The AA80, which from looking at the wiring diagrams is basically the same transmission in terms of functionality, was recently able to be controlled using a Haltech Nexus ECU.

    Too many mods to come

Would the 4x4 still be retained with the Dodge the trans unit? I don't see why not?

    What ECU are you running?

You can either request Domiworks to make an adapter for the Tundra transfer case and a Dodge AWD transmission or if you don't care about 2WD, keep the Dodge AWD transfercase that bolts right to it.

    I'm using a Haltech Elite 2500 ECU.

Could a 8hp75 out of a ram 1500 be used to maintain 4x4?

I don't see why not. Just make sure the housing matches the adapter as Chrysler has a few different variants.

This is amazing, and I'm wanting to do the same. Did you use the Domiworks adapter with the ZF 8HP90? I'm planning on using the CANTCU integrated with a Haltech 2500 to control it.

I've been in communication with CANTCU, and they say you can use the Dodge transmissions but the TCM needs to be bench flashed with BMW-based software first.

Yes, I worked with Domiworks to develop the adapter. It should work with other 8HP Dodge transmissions with the same housing. CANTCU seems to be the better option for general use, the lamik has more features but lacks the ability to skip gears. You might be able to just swap the mechatronics from a BMW transmission, I have no idea how easy it would be to flash the TCM though.

Thank you for the information, I really appreciated it. If I ship the TCM to CANTCU they will do the bench flash for free.
