so what would be the least expensive truck I can buy to be able to pull this particular model http://www.coachmenrv.com/product-details.aspx?LineID=55&ModelID=126#Main?

The ranch owner wanted to renegotiate price and i wasnt going to have it lol...there goes the 550. Im still liking this particular camper and i wont settle for anything less...this thing is going to cost a pretty penny so need an affordable truck capable of such endeavor.

I contacted GMC and sent them the camper specs to which they replied they didnt have a truck capable to tow this which surprised me...any thoughts? If i can keep it under 60k for the truck that would be nice

If you go with ford go for the older one that has the 7.3 in it... the 6.0 and 6.7 are pos engines.

On second thought why don't you just go down to your local Toyota dealer and buy a 1 ton diesel Tundra? Oh wait....... Come on Toyota make it happen. :turtleride:

If you can get the 4:10 rear end I would get that. The towing capacity will be higher.

This is strange.. GM is full of :censored: again. Why i would never trust there trash.

Front page says 23,200 pounds of towing. BS you goto the back on the specs max towing with 5th wheel is 13,900 to 14,900 pounds.

Not sure where your seeing that, But my guess would be that is for the 6.0L gas engine with 3.73 gears. The duramax with 4:10 gears will be 22300#.

they had dodge in mind when they made it. dodge specs are correct then there is your truck has the best power for towing.

^^ click on capabilities and on the right side of the screen you'll see add configuration. This is where you can pick your sub model.

This is one reason I dont trust gm never. I looked at all last night when I posted that. You have to watch it. They say 23,900 towing but that includes the weight for the truck. 3500 is not light weight it can be almost a 10,000 pound truck. Wherefor 23900 minus 10000 equals 13,900 that how they get that.

with that weight your lucky that trailer is a rv class!! if not your normal drivers license you have would be out of class do to the 24,000 limit gvw. Cdl would be required then.

This is a trundra forum sir, but more importantly its a place that enables us to find information to questions anyone might have. We try to help each other out and since our trucks arent able to pull this amount of weight I though i would inquire about this matter in a place where there is knowledgeable people. Like i mentioned earlier, "we can talk all we want about other manufactures..." but they are able to give towing capacity for large trailers like the one i want to buy and simply get other peoples opinion.

In PA anything over 9,999 lbs you need a CDL to tow it... Just my $.02

Not sure of the rules in other states.

I would agree most people need a cdl, but its a mess to keep your cdl current for the rv person.. Alot of people are NOT medically able to pass, so you can get your medical card so you can have a CDL. ( i do mine every two years as per DOT. ). DOT has changed ALOT in the past 10 years and the next ten will be worst yet to come from keeping your medical card, if you do have health problems at all you might be shot down.

No medical card no cdl. they are linked now.

Every truck has it's short comings no matter what brand. Many of us here have owned brands other than the Tundra. If a Tundra may come up short in a particular category, then we recommend alternatives that don't. :proposetoast:
