By the way, at least on my 2.5 gen, the 3rd brake light wire is one of the 4 smaller red wires in the bundle at the rear driver door panel area by the seat belt anchor. I had to use a Posi-tap and multimeter to find it.

Yes, and all three work properly when no other effects are running. When the effects are on, they don’t override. I admit that I have only tried it on a few settings and haven’t really given it a full shakedown. (My driveway’s right next to my neighbor’s bedroom window and by the time it gets dark this time of year, I figure he doesn’t have much patience for me with a belly full of the Champagne of Beers testing my disco sticks to Iron Maiden’s cover of UFO’s “Doctor, Doctor.”

I’ll try to do some more tests tomorrow night.

    Really *LIKE* this descriptive language.

also REALLY *LIKE* that ‘disco sticks’ is the accepted term.

Maybe the sound activated modes don’t have the brake interrupt? I’ll see if I can sneak out to the garage and test later.

Yep. Exactly how I pulled mine. I was lucky enough to have some photos of my 3rd brake harness from when I did the Evil Mfg. upgrade - made it a little easier to identify.

Neighbor was out of town tonight, so I fired up the sticks and can confirm that brake and turn signals DO override the effects in all modes. I was wrong, and am quite happy to have been wrong in this case.

Not sure what the issue was previously, as I am positive they were NOT working, because I was quite verbal about my disappointment at the time. These projects are all running together so I’m not 100% sure, but at one point I do know that my channels were inverted - not sure if that was concurrent with the issue or could even be a cause.

Either way, everything now works 100%. If I were to leave the controller in constant on (which the directions are very specific that you should not do) I can even get them to light up on lock and unlock. Would be sweet to have, but not worth burning up the controller over.

Thanks again to everybody who contributed to the buy, and the following threads.

For those that mounted the whip at the back of the truck by the tailgate, how did you run the wires? Did you get extension or made your own?

I mounted my whip controller module by the back seat next to the rear wall and ran a longer power wire from my SP9100 through the firewall. The cable from the whip module is long enough to get to the back of the bed from there. I exited the cab through the rubber grommet on the back of the cab between the cab and bed, then over the wheel well liner and made a hole into the bed behind the tail light. The "nut" or whatever it'd be considered on the end of the cable that connects to the whip's pigtail pops off so you can feed it through a 1/4 or 3/8" hole. Let me know if you need pics or if that makes sense.

Hey, Guys, owing to the crazy heat last month, I’m just today trying to install this whip. Well. Wire it and connect it with zip ties anyway, so @RUSTYNUTS won’t feel disrespected about Hulk showing up nekid to the dude ranch. But I cannot get the connectors to connect. Lined up arrows, I’m not sure what I’m missing.

The connectors are definitely not the easiest to couple together, look closely at the pins, sometimes one is tweaked a hair and needs alignment.
Also I start by trying to get the single lower pin started by holding them at a angle and praying the top two align and slide together

Nope. I either got a controller and extender that are for the non-187 whip or a wrong connector built into the 187 whip.

Look closely, you can see those prongs are different between the connector on the whip, left; and the connector on the extension, right. The connector built into the whip has the three prongs as an evenly spaced triangle within the circle of the housing. The connector built into the extension has the three prongs basically arranged in a flat triangle that occupies only the lower half of that circular housing. See?

I tried each of the various combinations and there is no amount of fiddling that will make these move. I am certain there different connectors. When I look on the site it looks like they have different connectors for the 187 and the non-187. I’m thinking maybe they mixed them up-?
