Yes, you can ratchet strap it to compress. You still have to pry the upper a arm down to too. It springs up by itself.

Jack bottom up and pry upper down. Sometimes you need 3 to 4 hands. If you so me installing it, I was also sitting on the pry bar while lining up the upper ball joint. Ratchet strap will be easier.

If you’re on the top setting, you’ll have to front the upper A arm down via ratchet strap or pry bar to get a couple of threads through the mounting point.
    Hope you can get it.

Ratchet strap worked with a little muscle!

tried to install mine today and ended up putting the one stock rear I took off back on. Is there a way to install the rears without lifting the truck? I double checked the Bilstein website and I have the right rear shocks. They are just slightly longer than the stock ones and won’t slip in. Any tips would be appreciated

Someone else may have a better method, but I used a small jack and compressed the shocks to put them in. I tried to put the bolts through before taking off the strap, but both of them started expanding before I had a chance to make it work. Good luck!

Just wanted to check with some others that have the 5100's, I have mine on Dobinsons 2" lift coils.
How much thread should be showing on the tophat middle bolt?

I think mine doesn't look right if someone can confirm as I am getting poping when I turn, feels like the coils.
