@snivilous just recorded some dragy runs with his truck and his buddy’s 19’ raptor with a tune. The raptor hit 0-60 in 5.8, a few of us are quicker than that by a whole second including Snivs truck with 275k miles on it and a used Magnuson he picked up for 3 grand.

A Ford with a tuned 3.5 ecoboost and 275k miles and twin turbos would be awes…. Oh waiit….

5.8 is half a second slower than a stock raptor.

Well, he does live at 5,000+ ft so that may be a factor. Thats enough ecoboost banter. The ecoboost was not one of the engines the OP had in mind to discuss when he made this thread, but you shoehorn the ecoboost into every conversation as if there isn’t a Ford forum on the internet.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
They’re going to be even more salty when every 2023-2024+ model year Ram 1500 owner who ticks the box for the High Output Hurricane I6 should it be offered, absolutely slaughters their blown 5.7L iForce with a box stock Ram with 30 day temporary tags. As it is the giant 6600lb brick otherwise known as a Grand Wagoneer L will probably run with blown Tundra 5.7L right off the lot.

I’ll venture a guess the standard output unit with a tune will even be a nasty customer too. Probably pull on a blown 5.7 iForce as well.

The high output unit evidently must be capable of some really silly things based on the crate motors that MOPAR just announced.

This is not a question that can be discussed with much civility on here lol. People are too emotionally invested in what they own sometimes to be objective about the topic. Merely one of the many flaws of being human.

    ..... Anyways

Your talking to a guy driving a stock tune 6200 lbs f150 on 35’s. Not to worried about speed. I care more about how quiet and effortlessly my truck tows my trailer at 10000’, not how good my blower whine sounds heading to Wholefoods.

which the 3.4 is great at btw. Quietest truck TFL ever tested on the ike and pulled 10000 lbs at 3000 rpm. Quieter than a hummer EV

I'd be more curious to see a tuned TT go against a more modified V8. I bet a simple tune outruns a blown 5.7

The 2022 is stock, and still didnt get pulled on that hard. Throw a $500 jb4 on that thing and some 93 octane and it probably would have been neck and neck lol.

Lol. Listening to guys argue about who’s full sized pickup truck accelerates faster is like listening to a Porsche and Ferrari owner argue about who can fit more luggage in their trunk.

Oh I’m pretty sure anyone putting a blower on their 5.7L Tundra is pretty insecure about how fast their truck is.

All while blowing the motor tuned…. I see it so frequently at the shop. Even one of my advisors did so while towing a boat from lake Powell, I wonder who towed him to the shop…… I wonder what motor he used….. oh my 5.7 old reliable. The 3.5 eco has gotten better over the years no question but still plaqued with issues like cam phasers, manifolds and ford still can’t get throttle body’s right. Plus the 10-speed is an absolute piece of s**t. I wish I could tell you tell you a very bad recall and many sad stories about why this recall is happening.
the more I read this forum the more and more my 2014 paid off. 130k miles, no issues 5.7 seems better

My wishlist: the 5.0 c8 from the is500 possible blown much like the new raptor r. Granted gas mileage would be equal to a 85’ garbage truck with a full load of shit. But this argument isn’t on gas mileage, for some reason we are talking about drag racing trucks……..

have both a supercharged 08 base and a 22 platinum, both are 4x4 and one owner vehicles. love both trucks. the 08 is heavily modded and is a forever truck. don't see myself ever selling it...they just don't (and won't) make them like it anymore. the 22 is pretty incredible and i love all the bells and whistles. 10 spd trans is great. avs to electronically control suspension damping is awesome for comfort mode and sport +. if i could only have one it would be the 08 but more for sentimental reasons as my kids grew up in it and it's been through a lot with me. as i get older, i really appreciate the luxury of the 22 platinum. hp and torque wise there is no comparing given 08 is boosted but my 22 is non-hybrid. thought i would miss the hp but i actually don't. it has plenty of go for a truck.

I am waiting for the HOH I6 to make it to the rams. I plan on taking a test drive.

While I really do like the TTV6 toyota has, I have always thought they should have a done a TT I6.

    Correct.

They should have given us an I6 tall deck version of the I3 in the GR Yaris.

    Instead they phoned it in.

I guess I’m not entirely convinced the supercharged 5.7L is that big of an advantage for towing. You’re stuck using more expensive fuel, more of it, and the limitations of payload still limit the truck on how much it will tow.

I don't think a SC 5.7L will be that much different than a NA 5.7 for towing fuel economy numbers might be slightly better since you have more power to pull the weight but I haven't towed with SC 5.7 so that is just an educated guess. As for the topic of the thread if I do end up with another Half ton which I doubt due to my needs nothing against the new TTV6 engine in the Tundra but I would want to see the engine out for a while longer before I made that decision. I have towed with an ecoboost a few times and the mpg were god awful towing. TFL got with the TTV6 Tundra the same mpg as I got in my 5.7L Tundra towing so looks like Toyota did good job in that department. I wish Toyota went with an I6 like Ram looks like they are going to do but it is what it is.
