The black paint on the cooler pipe seems very thin. A lot of paint chips when it arrived. Wondering whether it would develop rust... Maybe it is my OCD.

Looking for a 2014-2018 5.7L Tundra owner who would like to install an additional cooler on their truck. I have a prototype that needs to be tested and all I ask for is you complete the install ASAP, provide the necessary photos, and work with me on any changes, instructions, etc.

Let me know if you are interested.

Been running the setrab on my 2020 CM towing a TT about 6000lbs..outside temps are around 85degrees..my Torque temps at the highest going uphill are about 245degrees the Pan only 210 at the max..the Torque temps drop quick for the most part back down to about 208 while the pan is 205..is this normal to be that high on the torque with this cooler? It does go back down quick like I said for the most part. Just curious. Also I have somewhat of a steep driveway and getting the TT back up the pan went at about 255 and the torque at 280. Wasent for too long maybe 5 min until I was able to get the trailer in a good spot. Would I need to flush out the fluid now? Since my temps reached that high. Thanks for any info.

Yes, torque Temps always run way higher. The cooler has little impact on that, but it's nothing to worry about. The pan temp is what matters, because there not much you can do for the torque converter temp. It can take the heat.

Low speed trailer maneuvers will always spike your temps. As for swapping the fluid, hitting those temps nce or twice doesn't do much. Sustaining those temps or repeatedly hitting them frequently might require a fluid change.

going backward no to little air flow across your cooler. Assume 2000 hrs of run-time to get to 50K miles. Don't think 5 minutes will have any affect on the longevity of your fluid.

Going to be installing the Genuine kit soon. How perfectly level does the truck need to be to check the fluid level? My work space isn’t too sloped but it’s not perfect either.

My driveway has a very gentle slope to it. I got under my truck with a level and used a jack and stands to get the pan exactly level front to rear and side to side.

Yes. At least 1/2 can left. I think they sell a prep spray but I just scotch padded the sides, top and bottom to etch it a bit and hosed it off with brake cleaner and let dry really good. I read that paint likes ideal conditions to apply and timing of 2nd coat. It's thin and fumey for sure! I could smell the paint baking for several drives. Watching the OBD Fusion it's clear the tstat and cooler works well. Cooler is huge compared to one on our older Sequoia. I ended up putting my in/outs on the passenger side to help with fitting a SC cooler should I attempt someday, hose bends may be on tighter side, but I used some spiral hose wrap and hose spacer clamps and don't think hose will collapse over it..Nick probably doesn't recommend with concern of hose crimping but I'm satisfied with the routing, worst case it's a re-route. It's not a daily driver so I farted around with this project for a while lol. I lubricated hose ends with ATF and heated with hair dryer to soften them when making connections..super helpful. In a couple of weeks truck and cooler will get a good workout towing our trailer on a long haul in higher ambient temps. Enjoy the great kit!

Thanks @chasenicholas93. Your kit was perfect. Install took a couple hours, and no issues to report.

Took it out today after install and recorded some temps

Climbing on a hill: 190 deg on TC, 170 at the pan
Flat road with TC locked: 176 deg on both TC and Pan.

These were recorded with the thermostat pinned, and with an ambient temp of 97 to 98 degrees in Las Vegas.

Here are some pics. Don't mind the messy garage. It's in the process of getting cleared out lol

Pictures can tell stories sometimes, but make sure the lower hose isn't rubbing on the bolt head or mount.

That has been accounted for. Plenty of clearance for the hoses, and secured in all spots.

If you look up close, the hose doesn't touch the bolt you're talking about.
