I'm getting ready to start installing my kit. What did you guys use to service the fluid? Also, is the quart and a half all that needs to be added even after what will drain when the warmer is removed for the thermostat installation? Thanks.

A lot. See my channel for all installs/mods!
I added a little more than the quart and a half, but when checking the levels at the end (you can see in the video) I did have a decent amount drain out...so the quart and a half should be more than ok...I did a little extra just to be safe

I ended up using around a litre. As in service tool are you talking about what tool to use to add the fluid? I have a fluid suction tool that holds about 1/2 liter of fluid. I suck it out of the bottle then add it to the transmission. You can also use a long hose from the fill hole up to the engine compartment with a funnel on the end.

I put 1.5 qts in. Without exact measurements I’d say roughly 1 quart stays in.

If ya don’t have a pump you could also do as mentioned above, run a hose down through engine bay and fill from above with a funnel

14CD334C-0356-4808-AD14-650FE6E1F876.jpg Get the quart/gallon if you go this way. The bottles I received had a larger opening then the old school quart bottles.

Thanks. Were your lines a little loose on the thermostat after the clamps were installed where you could turn them if needed? Mine are a little loose on that end but tight on the hard lines.

Yea that was in that back of my mind for a couple days. So far so good after several hundred miles. It does help to line them up though.

So I have the install done, and went and bought the pump to service it. However my temp scanner won't be in until Monday or Tuesday. If I'm reading it right, you service with 1 and a half quarts and then pull the overflow plug in which you will lose about 1/2 quart after you cycle through the gears and get between the temperature range? So can I just service 1 quart and be good until the obd scanner comes in?

1 quart will get you very close to where the level needs to be until your scanner arrives. I recommend you do the level check prior to utilizing your truck but in your case you already have the cooler installed.

I was too slow to respond. That’s who I would listen to.

Sounds good in theory. That’s pretty much where I ended up. Reading through the numerous threads on the ‘19+ trans cooler, I’ve seen 7/8 of a quart for the kit. I would PM @chasenicholas93 and get his thoughts. He is the guru with the kit.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I found out there was a shipping delay after I started the install. Its not a big deal as I am working from home this week and I have the wifes vehicle here as well. So service with 1 quart, cycle through the gears, and then service the other 1/2 quart and continue with the procedure for the level check when the scanner arrives?

You may as well continue with the level check after the 1 quart to see where it's at before adding the 1/2 quart. It will be close with the 1 quart.

Ok, but wouldn't I still need to be within the temp range? Sucks that the scanner got delayed.

I went and picked this same pump up...will make life easier. I ordered the same Veepeak that you have and it arrives Monday. Instead of servicing a quart and a half, Nick said just put a quart in since that will be very close to where it will be in the end. Once the scanner arrives, he said level it and add the other 1/2 qt and do the check within the temp range.

Yes, I was just saying if you need to use the truck before you can confirm the level that one quart will get you pretty close to where it needs to be.

Why don't you just use a temp gun on the oil pan?
