This is the sort of anectodal experience I was looking for. Thanks! Sounds like you noticed a difference for sure.

This is sort of a derail of my own thread, but how did you decide on lockers front and rear vs some combination of mechanical LSD?

Correct. You win the internet for this answer.

Unfortunately at this time I cannot convince my accountant and wife that a blower is needed for my "work" truck. I will continue to scheme..

Can't say for Sage63, but when I was getting regear by Zuk, I explained to him my use and he told me to save my money on the front locker, and he's right, I never wished for a front locker, I do have powertrax lsd in the back.

    Look for "land anchor".

I thought I'm a cool kid who don't need a winch. When life taught me a lesson and I finally got one, I understood my own sheer misunderstanding of what a winch is.

So far, I have gleaned the following knowledge:
    - 5.29's will provide higher torque through the mechanical advantage of lower gearing. (just like on road, of course)
    - There are electronic safeguards programmed into the stock tune that limit throttle in 4-lo. These can be disabled, but still won't allow WOT. Could be what I've experienced on some of my adventures.
    - I need a supercharger and a winch to be a real man.

I decided I wanted to have the ability to select to lock and unlock the front vs going with an LSD I cannot control. Just my preference....I have no negative opinion on an LSDs capability

My truck is also my work truck. No, seriously. It is. I promise. The supercharger became a necessity :D Cheaper than a new dmax, anyways.

But I’ll quit derailing your gearing thread with mechanical advantage from the other side of the gear box... Haha.

I like your logic! Someday my truck may whine, probably a little ways out though :)

If I had to choose I would have chosen the supercharger over the 5.29s, it's more usable, AND you get to tow more, it's like getting a new truck for only 7k, that's the way you gotta look at it.

    Think of this way.

You can't take money with you when you are dead, the only that will matter is memories, do you want loved ones to remember you as a cranky tw@t or a guy who smiles? and what buys smiles? supercharger.

Plus, you can always make more money, there's niche for everything now, you can sell pictures of your feet, or whatever, but the amount of time you can smile diminish every second.

Towing capacity is not changed with a supercharger.

I object. It's the winch. A smile of deep relief. That you won't die in this semi-frozen swamp. Not today.

I thought only boy scouts and serial killers got their smiles from getting things all tied up in knots in the back woods…

You never know for sure, but next you see a smiling face in a dirty, pin striped truck equipped with a winch leaving the woods, you better put your supercharger to work.
