I was actually wondering the same thing. Truck naturally sounds a little louder under the hood for sure. No whistle sound but it for sure has a louder lumpish note from coming under the hood. I really like mine so far. Can't wait for the 8" Dirty Deeds to get here next week.

 

I just finished installing the trd intake. I have a few questions. When I installed the new air flow accelerator, does the outer rubber ring go inside the hole or does it stay outside? When It is installed outside it locks the airflow accelerator to the hole but when I try to install the bottom airbox it doesn't line up with the screws mounts. The only way for the screws to line up is when I push the airflow accelerator into the hole but now the airflow accelerator rattles inside.

Also I do have a gap between the upper and bottom airbox just like another member.

 

I had the gap in the picture and sounds like it's normal. I also had the same thing you noted regarding the accelerator. I recall the accelerator having a ring (that's what i'm calling it) around the plastic and if you pushed it through the fender with that ring inside the engine bay it held it tight, but the bolts wouldn't line up to hold down the bottom of the air box. Solution was same as yours to push the accelerator more into the fender so the ring is now on the fender side, but the it wiggles around. After you attach the accelerator to the lower intake box it will click into place on the box (same as it clicked to hold the stock one on there). After it clicks into the lower air box it doesn't wiggle around, but there is a small gap around the accelerator and the hole in the fender.

 

Yeah no whistle here. I actually had a 2012 tundra that had the trd intake and it was more noisey. They might have made a slight change to it.

 

Its nice to know I'm not the only one. My truck does sound louder with the intake on. I havent installed the exhaust system yet. I'm hoping sometime next week

I seem to be stomping on the gas pedal more after the TRD exhaust but still haven’t gotten used the the louder whaling sound after 2500 rpms

 

Just got done installing mine and taking it for a test drive. Yes, these incidents came up while I was putting mine in. I did however before doing the install, most have said there was a gap and could see the red from the filter. If you looked before installing, that was there before or maybe it was just me. I was just little bit surprised that the gap from the air accelerator. I think I will put a weather seal around that as that gap still sucks in hot engine air. should have been sealed.

 

Nope they said still missing items from order.

My oil cap came with the sticker plaque which wasn’t even adhered to the cap yet, so I had to attach it to the cap myself.

I also bought the accelerator, which will be the start of my one off TRD CAI. I plan to purchase just the TRD intake cover and use it in conjunction with the AFE Super Stock Induction System.

 

I picked my stuff up yesterday and had them ship my remaining items which were shipped yesterday as well. The counter guy said they were gonna need a while to catch up on orders. The whole shop was stacked with boxes. Couldn’t even browse the shelf’s due to all the rims stacked everywhere. I’d say call and check. I called and the guy said they had some stuff but we’re waiting for others. They let me come pick up the ready stuff separately.

 

It calms down and smoothes out after a while.

 

Sticker never comes attached. It’s so you can stick it on in alignment with the rest of the logos in the engine bay. Install the cap so you know where it stops rotating then place sticker so you can read the TRD.

I still haven’t gotten any updates from Butte Toyota about my order. I know they are backed up with orders, but crap, I’m want to install these parts like yesterday on my truck. I’m still regretting that I wasn’t able to pickup a TRD CAI from my truck. If they have another sale, I will for sure buy one.
