    2006 DC 4.7 - Should i replace my sensor?

my oil pressure during a cold start shots up to the halfway mark and then sits at around 1/4. Under load/Uphillit goes around 3/8 but never hets to the halfway mark. Its always been like this. I use OEM oil filters and Mobile1 full synthetic oil. I do put in 7 quarts during oil changes vs the 6.7 recommended.

My buddy has the same year and truck and his oil pressure was just like mine and now his reads at the half way mark at all times. He just had his valve cover gaskets replaced, not sure if the shop used a dino oil and that caused the change for him. He is also using mobile1 full synthetic high milage. We dont know who is right or wrong

Use 5W30 full synthetic of your choice. FGTs often show low oil pressure on the gage. If concerned hook up a mechanical gage and verify your true oil pressure.

If it's always been like that, and the engine hasn't exploded and isn't knocking or throwing knock codes, almost assured it's OK and just the sensor.

Knowing it's a later model truck (it was the earlier models who had the TSB, and who often bitch about lower pressure but their gauges are setup differently, stupidly), I'd say the appropriate action would be to crack open the FSM, and see if there's a way to test the output of the sensor to understand if it's just reporting low or what. If it is, or if that info isn't in the FSM, and it REALLY bothers you, replace the sensor w/new OEM .... or find a JY with another '05-'06 VVTi engine and yoink the sensor. I believe you'll probably find one or two on nearby yards.
