I've had both. As some have mentioned, the 4.6 is plenty of engine. If you think you might regret it, get the 5.7. I currently have a 5.7, but the way I drive 99% of the time it wouldn't make a difference having either engine. If you're thinking lift and bigger tires, get the 5.7

From what I am hearing you better buy now if you want a Pro. I want a white one but all the white ones around have add ons I don't want. Cements are equipped the way I want but I do not like the color

I've owned both, it's a flip of a coin which is better. As was pointed out by some folks, the vast majority who have the 5.7 are not using it to its fullest potential so a 4.6 would work for them. My 1st Tundra was a 2012 DC with the 4.6, it did everything I ask of it without complaint. My 2nd Tundra was a 2014 DC with the 5.7, it got about 1.5 mpg less fuel mileage and pulled the 12' enclosed trailer I occasionally pull almost the same as the 4.6 equipped Tundra, IMO it has a little more pep nothing earth moving.

I strayed from the Tundra fold for about 9 months when I owned a couple Ram HD trucks with the Cummins. The Ram 3500 CC LB DRW I had was a beast, that diesel put a gasser to shame. When I went to the toyota dealer to buy my present 2016 Platinum I parked them side by side. The Ram made my Tundra look like a dwarf, I do miss the massive torque of that diesel. Pulling a trailer at 70 - 80 mph up a big grade and the trans staying in 6th gear with the converter locked is a hoot, my Tundra downshifts for those same grades. I will however say I do not miss all the mechanical issues I had with those Ram HD's, I'll never own another one.
