I am new to the forum but wanted to get some input on lifts kits for the Tundra. I have been doing some research but am stuck between with a BDS 4.5 inch or 7inch lift. I have looked at ReadyLift but would rather stick with the Fox Coilovers. I would like to stay with a size 18 inch wheel. I have been leaning towards some Method 312 or Mesh wheels. What is your opinion about what size lift I should go with? Do you think I will need an upper control arm too? I appreciate all the input!

Anything over 3 inches increases complexity....get a good complete lift. Yes on UCA. With the size tire you would likely run with that much lift wheel offset becomes critical, probably also need fender well trimming and attention to body mount. There are forums here specifically for wheels/tire and suspension....so you have reading to do. Lots of good info.

Thanks for the help, I just simply can't decide but with this COVID crap going on right now. I have time to think about what lift , wheels and tires I want make an investment on for the truck.

    Alot of them
A 7 inch will kill your mpgs because you will be running some rather large tires.

No experience with big lifts but going up that high you’ll want to re-gear as well so keep that in mind. I think everyone agrees you’ll want to run 5.29 with anything over 35” tires.

I'm a fan of the BDS 7" lift. On my 2012 Tundra I ran 35" tires and with my 2016 I'm running a 7" BDS lift with 37" tires with the body mount cutout. Neither have had regears. One thing that really helped on my 2016 is adding the Pedal Commander. I'm getting about 13.0 mpg (indicated) with daily commutes at 70-75mph with the PC set to City +2.

That BDS 7 inch lift looks great and I am surprised you get 13 mpg. Do you Gus think Kings coilers are worth the money? I keep reading great things about them.

I'm just here to throw a monkey wrench into your decision. Lol, Here are two Procomp 6 inch lifts. Good luck with whatever you choose, I'm sure it will turn out good.

What size wheels are you running on your pro comp? I want to stay around 17 or 18. I like the look of more tire and less wheel.

Not sure about the bds 4.5 inch but the bds 7 used a new spindle to keeps your stock uca at a stock height so you don't need new uca if you don't want to. My alignment was all within specs. Now later I had the fox coilovers turned up and added coachbuilder shim and shackle kit for an additional 1.5 inch up front and 2 inch in rear so I could fit 38s and now I need new uca as my castor alignment is out of spec but you should be good with the bds 7.
Here is a picture of my uca as it sits today. Still less of an angle as people running a 3-4 inch lift due to the new spindle that comes with lift
Do t mind the rub on The body mount in th pic. That was why I lifted it higher. That has since been taken care of..

Your Tundra looks pretty sick. Have you had problems with your BDS. I have read about people having problems. So what size tire do you have on your truck now?

Thanks Man! And only issue I had was I didn't have the fox coilovers put on right when I got the lift. Couldn't afford them at the time so the stock coilovers with the spacers they put on the bottom squeaked like a mo fo just had to spray lube it. Then I upgraded to fox and problem solved. Second issue the rear brake lines were touching rear leaf springs but a quick bend of the very flimsy sock brake line bracket and that problem was resolved as well. So really nothing major and I've beat the crap out of it.
    Tire size is 38 13.5 20 on -18 offset

I thinking about method 312 18x9 wheel setup! WhT size wheel do you have on yours?

Ya I did alot of research before I got it. High quality lift with the best warranty available. Doesn't void factory warranty. And i have 20s on mine. Depending on your offset you could easily fit 37s without cutting the body mount 2.
I believe methods normally have a positive or 0 offset. That would be perfect for 37s

Oh and if you do go the 7 inch do yourself a favor and get 37s. I got 35s at first brought it home and the wife told me they looked 2 small...

I thought the same thing about the wheel size.Did you have to change out your gears when putting 37inch tires on? I have read about people have to change out their gears. Also on the BDS can you set the lift to 6 inches instead of 7 inches?

Do you have the pro shocks? Ready lift has the 4” bracket lift that lets you keep all your fox shocks. So it will be 6”. Which is the 4” plus the 2” you already have with the trd Pro fox shocks.

Yes I regeared wasn't planning on it but after my first road trip threw the mts on 38s I could feel it struggling to find gears. I went 4.88 I would recommend 5.29 tho. Not sure if you can set the bds to 6". I had the coils cranked up higher for more lift. You might be able to turn them down for less but not 100%. If you can turn the fronts down that would still keep the rear higher than the front so idk

Getmeacoors does mention the offset then mentions the Methods. The wheels will have to have an offset (BS or backspacing in their instuctions) for sure. From the BDS web page.

Not necessarily. My offset is way to far negative according to there website and my rims are 10 wide instead of 9 . There website is for no trimming so you are right in that aspect. But if you don't mind some trimming and a bmc that opens up a lot more options :sawzall:
But yes you are correct there website does have good guidelines to reference

Since the pro already has a 2” front lift. I just added 1” more to make it 3” and added the #3 shackles to keep the rake especially when I’m hauling material for work. I put the money in the sound system this time.
