I'm interested to hear some real world results on this. Anyone know if the tune is completely removable so not to be detected by the dealership in the event of warranty work?

I believe its a piggyback so there is no tune on your actual ECU.

Yeah I agree. It looks like a piggyback system

OV Tune has supposedly cracked the code on the ECU and they’re working on tunes. So the question is $600 for a piggyback through Burger or a $200 tune that goes through the ECU? If the $200 sticks for the Tundra. I saw they’ll come to you if you get five or more people. Reminds me of the GM days with BlackBear and others

According to their fb page, the tune development is underway and asking for beta testers. Their tune maybe able to tweak the hybrid side too but of course that will be further down the road. For folks that can't wait, get the piggyback. They can sell those when if decide to use different tuner.

I’m not on FB, so who needs beta testers? I might explore that if it’s Burger Motorsports. Leaving a footprint with an ECU tune has me a little shaky. Dealers are becoming hardcore on aftermarket upgrades. Even though they’d have to prove that was the culprit of the issue (if one came up). IDK, I’m still exploring my options on which one to do. Less than ten years ago this was never a debate. Just tune and go, now there are politics involved.

@Jbeans691981 can you add some insight on the JB4. What did you spend and how did the jump in power feel like? Do they have a map that’ll allow 89 octane and what’s the mileage been like? Sorry for all the questions I’m just really curious.

So I’ll start with the milage. Way to soon for me to notice a difference. I imagine with higher octane to offset the difference would be negligible. Time will tell. Now for the good stuff. The hookup super easy.however, The rear sensor is way back and a little bit of a pain to get to. That said. The response was beyond what I expected. The absolute power through all 10 gears, even up steep hills, is nothing short of amazing. Still a slight throttle lag upfront. This can be fixed with this https://pedalcommander.com/a/s/products/pc27. Yes it has been verified compatible. According to Terry burger the 2 units marry well
Together. The JB4 app isn’t free(27 dollars) and only useful if you choose the Bluetooth options. Add on for 159. The app is absolutely amazing adjustable mapping on the fly. Ability to read codes and delete instantly. Customizable digital gauges that match trucks response to chip. Here is the caveat. There is not an option for 89. 91 is the minimum you can run. Personal. I run 93. I mean what are we even talking about as far as money for a full tank. 7-9 bucks Total difference. Locally Reg is 405. Premium 93 is 439 got to love BJs. With that said, it is an additional long term cost. Overall. Well
Worth the money. The power is instant and massive. My opinion of course fellas.

Unless you don’t care about warranty I suggest not cracking ECU. I was told by my Executive Toyota Rep they will be able to tell and void all
    Warranty.

so the best thing to do is to wait for your warranty to be done and over with to get the JB4. and then u can awaken the truck and have it how it's suppose to feel coming from the dealer. at it's full potential

OVTune for the Tacoma was untraceable by the dealer last I checked. Wouldn’t think that would change for the tundra but who knows.

No, no. The JB4 does not flash your ecu. Therefore no detection. I was referring to those who would want to do a direct flash tuning.

The JB4 isn’t a flash tuner, it’sa piggyback that manipulates the system. Once removed it’s gone. The OVTune is an ECU flash and will leave a footprint

Yes it will. Lots of new tech in the tundra. No way to erase a flash to the ecu.

If this is the case with the tundra then it wound be beautiful. However the jb4 does the job. And they are constantly fine tuning the maps.

I’m going to move forward with them. Here in Texas where I’m at we only have 89 then 93 octane. Regular is 3.95 and 93 is 4.79, that was the Exxon near the Daycare. I haven’t checked Bucees yet or Costco. It only matters to me because I need approval :ballchain::anonymous:

TRD Air filters. New pass side turbo : )
My JB4 is on it's way and I too will be testing the limits of both the tunes and the truck. Is there any speedo correction in the JB4 for larger tires? Didn't ask the rep that question. Probably since it's not a true flash there wouldn't be.

@Jbeans691981, so to clarify, you recommend also getting the wireless phone kit?

and also, the site says it's not VIN locked, so can a bunch of us just put in like $10 each and then pass it around so every one can use this mod

It has to be hooked up in order to work. Once it’s hooked up that’s it. It’s a piggyback not a flash tuner like Superchips, Edge, Diablo Sport, Hypertech and so on. Those are VIN locked to that specific vehicle and I know Diablo you could pay extra for additional vehicles. The JB4 is more so like a Peddle Commander and Speedo Calibrater. They work in line.

Ok now that's awesome. Basically just didn't want a tune footprint on the ECU. This sounds much more enticing now.

He said they are looking into it but no support at the moment. But it it’s in their list. So I guess it can be done.
