AWD Trophy trucks are a rather recent thing. I think some people forget how many thousands upon thousands of miles 2wd’s have run and still run off road.
Rock/Log crawling? ok… 4wd… Mud? 4wd… Everything else can, for the most part, still be done efficiently and quickly with a well constructed 2wd.

This is neglecting the "why?" aspect of 2WD trophy trucks. They were 2WD by necessity because there were no axles/4WD components at that time that could articulate enough to accommodate needed suspension geometry and travel of independent front suspension for high speed desert racing. They would have been 4WD if possible, it wasn't because 2WD was "better."

I still struggle with the idea of a 2WD truck that's anything more than a fleet vehicle for a landscaping company, because in the mountain west/pacific northwest you can't even get a 2WD truck. Manufacturers just don't send them here. It took me the first couple decades of my life to really understand why 2WD's exist until a client in Texas pointed out that I live in a place that having 4WD isn't just for the lifestyle, it can be the difference between getting to work or not in the winter, and for much of the rest of the US, particularly Texas and the gulf states, that is not a consideration. 4WD doesn't really make a difference in a hurricane.

I still think 2WD is lame though.

I don't disagree, not entirely anyway. Its the same in Utah (snow) where Subaru is king because of it. I grew up in the desert and oil fields where most trucks were 4wd as well but it was rarely utilized outside of dunes or big rocks. Even then, we took 2wd trucks further than some 4wds would risk it.
I would never order any truck in 2wd either, unless I was looking at dropping it and doing a “sport truck” or maybe a drag truck or something. On the same token though, just because a truck is 4wd doesnt make it an off road machine by default. Case in point is nearly every heavy duty/ diesel truck out there. These are 4wd to get you up a boat ramp or keep you from getting stuck on the side of a road; not 4wd to go off in the sticks or out on the beach. I can’t tell you how many guys Ive seen in lifted Super Duties getting pulled out of the sand by a 4runner, Taco, or Jeep. lol

In what time or era were 4WD axles/components not around for trophy trucks? They've been around since the 90's to my knowledge. People don't commonly build 4WD trophy trucks because they are expensive, complex (more spare parts to carry on the chase truck), increase the unsprung weight and most importantly 4WD is not needed to be competitive in desert racing. They are now making some phenomenal 4WD trucks but it's nothing new.

ADS looks like they have some shocks in the works. Also, heard from Camburg today. Lead time on UCA’s and links is 12-14 weeks and they said kings is an “8 month or so” lead time from them.

That front wheel travel is impressive. Hoping my kings will get me similar results with my UCA's.

My 1794 is supposed to arrive Sept 7th so I'm starting to scope out items. Any official confirmation on need for spacers with stock wheels for 285/65/20, 295/70/20, or even a true 35? I'm running 285/65s on my 2014 with 1" spacers. It looks like there is a little more room in the front wheel well on the new generation.

I called Toyota and they confirmed it is the 2022 Tundra suspension lift and it needs to be special ordered. Typically 3-5 weeks but no guarantee. Price is only good online.

This is my question. I have one being delivered this Friday and was looking forward to having the 6" lift installed, but come to find out it comes equipped with the rear load leveling system and there is no available lift option, even a leveling option, that is compatible with this setup. Has anyone found a work around for this, or a lift company that makes something compatible? I have spoke with BDS and Rough Country, and there is no ETA, but they are "working on it."

I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that if you're looking for 6" of lift on a truck equipped with the load leveling system...it's gonna be awhile. I'm not sure how they would get to 6" of lift and keep that system without totally swapping out to an aftermarket air bag system. But, who knows? I'm sure some aftermarket company will come up with a solution soon.

Icon is working on adapting their suspension lifts to work with the load leveling system, but they're not going to offer a 6" lift that I'm aware of. Here is the tech note from their current 3.5" lift kits:

Seems smooth. 2" lift in front and maybe 1/4 in the back I think. Forgot to measure before hand.

Where'd the 1/4" in the rear come from. Thought this was just the front strut assembly and rear shocks. Shocks don't add ride height typically. I'm real interested to hear how you like this setup after some varied use.

Glad to see Icon is starting to ship kits out. Did you order direct through them or a local shop? I've put my order in for a Stage 4 kit a few weeks ago.
