I have been on a journey to figure out good springs for my DD/off road build. The coil air bags I installed popped, then put in OME 2864’s and while a great lift very stiff for my load. Today I put in progressive OME 2866’s and I think I found my sweet spot. On my initial drive the rear is more compliant and doesn’t pop quick so harshly like with the 2864’s.

My measurements from center of wheel hub to fender flare. I have about 350lb loaded or so.
    2864’s
    Left
    25.5
    Right
    26 3/8”

    2866’s
    Left
    23.5
    Right
    24 3/8

I thought it would be harder to put the springs in but it was pretty easy. The hardest part is just making sure you release about 6 spots for the ABS and brake lines. I used 2 jack stands and my floor Jack under the pumpkin to control the axle height. I took off the lower shock bolts and the rear sway bar U joints.

The passenger side was a little tougher to droop the axle so I used my bottle jack

Height of the 2864 vs 2866, the new black ones are the 2866. About 3/4” shorter

How the truck sits mostly loaded. The left side could use a .5-.75” shim as the awning I mounted makes it lean a touch. But when not camping my rack will come off so I’m hoping the progressive spring works well unloaded as well.

I've got about 900lbs of tongue weight with my TT hooked up. I currently have a 1" spacer in the back, not super impressed. BTW, I had the same sag issue with my '19 Ram. The new Ram has the coil spring rear end as well. Trying to decide between bags or springs. Not wanting the rear end to stiff when not towing the TT (we take it out 8-10 times per year). Wondering if these springs would do the trick, thoughts?

They would be a good option, relatively speaking they aren’t too expensive if you can put them on yourself and swap out as you do some trial and error to get it right

Am I correct in understanding that I can get the dobinson ims struts for my front and reuse the oem coils? If I adjusted the coil seat for, say, 0.5" of lift, that would preload the spring, and make it a little stiffer? I'm actually a fan of the way the stock suspension handles, I just want a small lift in front - enough to reduce the rake, but not eliminate it, as I often have loads in the bed. I haven't done any suspension work since I had my 1st gen tundra, and I'm relearning everything.

I know in other Toyotas, the factory coil does not work with the new shocks. I don't think it's been truly tested with the 3rd gen, but it doesn't seem like dobinsons made them with the intent of using factory springs. Honestly, their springs are so cheap, I wouldn't even attempt it.

Fair, but the brief search through dobinson's catalogue shows their shortest coils are for 1"of lift. I'm not interested in lifting that much. My search of other forums showed the opposite - some were using the stock spring coils. Anyway, that's why I'm asking questions before doing anything.

Top Notch hooked me up on my Dobinsons setup. Basically free shipping. They put out some nice 3rd Gens.

Call dobinson and speak with them.
I also did not want a high lift at all, just want better shocks. Called dobinson but guy kept insisting that their minimum lift is 3 inches for their shocks.

I called elka and seems that they're able to adjust shocks to whatever lift you want, so I may be going with their shocks instead.

I want to first try to install the rear coils OME 2862 that I bought and see how the ride and rake will be with the stock shocks, and if I don't like it, I'll probably go with Elka as they can adjust shocks for less lift.

I know dobinson has 2 and 3" lift coils for the front. The 1" I saw earlier was for the rear, so 2" minimum up front. I also saw that elka has a 0-2" front coilover. Do you know if they're linear, progressive, or digressive? Elka's high end remote res are adjustable between progressive and digressive, but they're $$.

No idea about the elka front coilovers, I think the coil is made by Ebach brand, and shock itself is elka...

As posted earlier, I have installed the Dobinson 2/1. Around 70mpg I'm getting a little vibration. I have had the tires balanced twice now, and that didn't resolve the issue. Could the driveshaft be causing the problem. I'm wondering if I need to install a carrier bearing drop.

So you said they’re balanced but did they do a road force balance? Bc that can expose more than a regular balancing.
Check the bore of those wheels and make sure it matches the 95mm bore the 2022+ tundra has. You might need bore rings. My quick google of those wheels don’t show any with the right bore size.

I will check the bore size of the wheels and report back what I find. I appreciate the help.

Good gravy, no wonder why I work on houses and not cars. I would have not considered that bore issue. So if the bore is too big, it would create some rotation/vibration issues I assume? So we have to pick a wheel with the correct bore size or get a ring that will correct that issue.

I was looking at purchasing the following Method Wheels. Since the bore on that rim is 108mm and not the 95mm you suggested, I need to get a bore ring to make sure it's correct? Thanks.

So there’s people who will say you don’t need the ring since the lugs center the wheel but it’s very cheap insurance to add the ring so the wheel is actually in contact with the hub like Toyota intended.

Okay, so in the same boat as Bird Dog. If hub's are 106.10, what do we need to get them to the 95? Thanks,
