Just got the OEM lift installed today w/ Maxxis RAZR 285/65R20 tires. Nice before and after pic, though it all honesty the pic doesn't do it justice. Post lift looks WAAAY better in person.

I flipped the bottom pic horizontally (thus the backwards emblems) for a better comparison.

Not gonna lie. Mirrored images always freak me out a bit when I see all text reversed.

Also...you might want to cross post into the OEM TRD Lift-specific thread. They'd love to see it as well.

Video of my lift from 88 rotors. They do a lot of yotas there. Just make sure your mindful of how they set the pre-load.

Seriously sick setup. If I only didn’t have to deal with a $400 shipping rate to Hawaii….

I live close to 88 rotors. Can you elaborate regarding them setting the correct preload? Did you go beyond the 1.25" max preload?

On the dobinsons site the full kit was a pre order that was starting in March, I got just the rear IMS from them and it took 4 weeks.

Can someone advise if I want to level my truck with the Icon Front EXP Coilover in the link above, would I need any additional parts? Or can I just proceed with two of these in the front and use all other OEM parts? Let's assume I adjust it to less than 2.25" to avoid needing aftermarket UCAs.

Same concept as bilstein 5100/6112. Adjustable circlip rings to adjust height. You reuse your coil and top hat from OEM shock/strut. If you’re trying to just level your truck, look at Rough Country N3 struts that come pre assembled. Much easier to install than swapping springs.

Can Toyota recalibrate the speedo after putting on 35’s?

That’s frustrating. Toyota showcased their tundra with a TRD lift kit and it had 35’s on it. Misleading they don’t mention the weight issue of the E load tires or the inaccurate speedo.

why would they mention the weight issue of load e tires? That’s not on them… the speedo is and they should have a work around for it

I would do the dobinsons basic kit- very stout, will last forever, little Maitenence vs other suspension to keep it running. Get the 2.5in kit and you won’t need to get UCA’s for now.

since you have an sr you’ll definitely need the upgrade cv axels from the TRD lift kit. Extended rear brake lines, bump stops, etc will also be needed

You’ll need to be willing to spend around 5k for what you describe. The top brands can accommodate that, dobinsons, icon, king, Elka, pro comp, rad flo take your pick the price point matches the quality.

As others have mentioned, you can go with the entry level Dobinson kit or the Stage 1 Icon kit (though you'll need a rear spring or spacer for the Icon kit). Both will net you ~2.25", which is about the max height you can go without the need to install UCAs & an adjustable track bar in the rear. Either way, you'll still need to upgrade your CV Axles to the red TRD OR / Pro axles or the silver TRD Lift axles.

With all of that, your best bet might just be the TRD Lift Kit since you'll already be within a $1k of that kit price once you factor in labor.

Just installed the Dobinsons basic kits w/ heavier front springs to account for bumper. Unfortunately rear springs still haven’t come in, so now I’m sitting an inch higher in front.

Doing 70mph on i70 in CO a few months ago, I thought I was going to roll my truck when I hit a really bad stretch of road coming out of the Eisenhower tunnel. If you’ve driven it this year, you may know what I’m talking about. Was tossing around the idea of suspension, as the Westcott kit was just not good enough coming off of a few full suspension setups on past trucks. After this incident I bit the bullet and said no more shit ride quality.

This dobinsons IMS kit blows my two old toytec boss kits out of the water, and really a Westcott kit was a waste of time and money. Great for looks, but that is about it.

Super impressed so far, and still running spacer on the rear stock coil, didn’t want to wait anymore to get better ride quality.

With the kit, I’m also running Icon tubular UCA with their sway bar drop blocks. Waiting for springs and I will install those with the adjustable Panhard bar.

Although it’s early, I would 100% recommend the IMS kit, especially at the price point they are offered. Gave me a lot of smiles smashing into shit with confidence offroad. Needs 37s

Longer CVs have nothing to do with poke. Since you are still using the stock LCA, poke remains unchanged - or, technically, should be slightly less than stock, because, with the lift, the LCA will be at more of an angle than at stock, where it would be flatter, pushing the hub/spindle out further.

The CVs in the TRD kit are not just longer, but built to allow more articulation, than even the TRD OR CVs, which is necessary/ideal, when you are swapping UCAs out for TRD or aftermarket ones that allow more travel. This is why some manufacturers, like Icon, specify that you either need a diff drop or to swap out the CVs with the TRD OR CVs (though the ones from the TRD lift would be even better), if your truck was not equipped with the TRD OR package from the factory.
