I don't know what rear springs come with the Adventure Motors kit, but there are lots of people running the 2.5" Dobinsons setup. I've researched that setup a lot (and I mean a lot) and I haven't seen anyone discuss the ebrake. That setup is usually this: 2.5" Dobinsons Springs, an adjustable rear track (pick your flavor/brand), and extended rear brake lines.

As for the front diff drop, I haven't see any aftermarket kits for the 2022 that offer a diff drop. Also, I think a few folks who've had access to some of the higher end kits (like King, Icon, etc) have said that a diff drop on the 2022 is likely very difficult compared to the previous Gens.

I have the Dobinson 559 Rear Coil and Dobinson Rear Shocks and adjustable rear panhard. It also has the AMKC rear sway bar bracket.
They just forgot the brake lines in my kit. I will wait for that and should be complete.
Thanks for the insight on the front geometry. I am not technical enough to know. I do know that the Adventure Motors guys said that the Fox and ProComp UCAs should have the appropriate geometry so I will roll with their knowledge and research on this setup.

    Thanks again.

I have the 2.5" Dobinsons springs and ICON adjustable rear track bar on mine and the extended brake lines for the rear aren't necessary in my opinion. At full droop on the lift, I still had a sufficient amount of slack on the OE brake lines.

As for a diff drop, you'll likely see them on kits taller than 4 inches. I haven't looked into them yet, but Rough Country might have a diff drop since they offer a 6-inch kit. BDS might offer that in the future, but I don't see King or ICON offering that.

Sounds like you and I will have nearly the same setup in the rear except I’m trying to source the 2” Dobinsons vs the 2.5”. However, I might end up going with the 2.5” Dobinsons if there’s no other choice. I talked to Dobinsons on Friday and they said they’re 2-3 months out on restocking the 2” (C59-169). They did suggest the C59-223V as alternative. It’s the same as the 169 but a variable rate vs constant rate spring. They’re only about 3 weeks out on restocking those.

I’ll run the same adjustable Icon track bar and already have the extended brake lines on hand.

Did you see a need for any type of sway bar drop for the rear?

I went ahead and ordered the Icon Sway Bar Drop kit. It sounds like the diff drop is unnecessary and a potential mess. With this storm bearing down on us, it will likely be next week before I have the truck finished at this point anyway.

Did the AMKC kit not come with a sway bar drop kit for the front? Surprising since they’re the only ones that have a bracket for the rear.

It is not included on my parts list from them. They have their own rear sway bar drop but no mention of the front. I just ordered the Icon kit from Off Road Alliance. I got my ditch light brackets pretty quickly.

That didn't take long. Ditched the TRD Pro Fox Suspension.

    King 2.5" Coilovers/shocks
    TC UCAs
    OME 80-series springs (2866)
Wheelers Superbumps front (repurposed from my 5th gen 4Runner)
    Timbren Active Offroad Bumpstops rear

Raised the front coilovers about 2 additional turns vs. King factory placement (from 9 threads to 11 threads). Netted about a 2" lift up front (vs. TRD Pro suspension, so about a 3" total front lift), 2" rear lift.

Caster is at about 4 degrees, toe and camber within factory specs.

Nice…what did you do with the old suspension setup?
What wheels/tires are those? Wheels look like RPT 1’s from Enkei.

Also…is your TRD sway bar in the stock location after you put in this kit or was it relocated lower?

It looks like it’s still inside of the TRD skid plate and earlier on the thread here we are seeing issues of the TRD OEM lift kit (none Pro compliant I understand) seemingly not working well with TRD skids and non pro sway bars (black one) that were relocated lower…they seem to be outside of the TRD skids.

Can you take some pics of your sway bar / TRD skids setup for inquiring minds so we can see how this is working on yours?

If yours fit under then I am wondering if a TRD pro sway bar (red one) is the answer…it
may have slightly different twists to it that allows it to stay under the skid plate vs the non pro (black one).

Which dealer in/around Bellingham did you get this kit bought from and installed?

Also do you have the TRD skid plate installed? If so where is your sway bar in relation to the plate (inside or outside)?

I haven't looked at every single post on this thread, but I am wondering if anyone has begun to produce a UCA lift that addresses Tundras with the rear airbag set up (no coils in the rear)? There has to be a manufacturer that has developed a spacer or something to work in tandem with the rear air bags?!

Solid. I might have to check out the OME 2866 springs! It's looking like the Dobinsons springs won't be here in time for my Icon components so I might have to go this route.

Now...I have to try & source these springs. haha. I reached out to a ton of suppliers that specialize in Land Cruiser springs. A couple of them said that a lot of the LC springs are getting snatched up the Tundra guys and they weren't anticipating the spike in demand.

I think I'm going to hang on to the old suspension for a bit just in case I run into any drivetrain issues down the road with my warranty given the recent issues with axles and front diff seals (coupled with the fact that it's an entirely new drivetrain). Not sure if it's worth the headache if something catastrophic happens and the dealer tries to pin it on my lift.

Wheels are Enkei RPT1 17x9 0 offset with Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.5R17. I would not recommend this setup and found out later that it skims the front calipers due to the middle bulge on the inside of the wheel. Most 17s I've seen on here don't have this issue, but if you run these wheels you will definitely hit the caliper and need to clearance the caliper or the wheel. It cleared enough on a test mount but once it was torqued down with a hub ring it was giving me issues.

I took some pictures of the front sway bars. They do fit inside the TRD skid plate. Of note is that the King setup does not relocate or space down the mounts/end links on either front/rear sway bars. Front end links seem to retain factory position. I flexed it out a bit on a ramp but didn't find any issues with binding or limiting but it causes issues down the road I may opt to delete the sways for better articulation. Doesn't seem to be an issue though.

I really like them so far. I have a bit of a rear rake (~ 1/2") but the front end is at the perfect height, and loaded down with weight I think it'll settle right at level. They are also progressive like most of the Dobinsons. They went on a lot easier than other springs we've installed in the past.

This is good info. I’ll be running about ~200lbs of armor up front so I anticipate a bit of a rake with my Icon setup. That’s ok. I’ll eventually got to a Smartcap setup that’ll take care of it.

I too will keep the stock TRD OR (I know you’ve got the Pro) setup just in case I run into any issues. Though I’ve been running 2” spacers for about 10k miles without any issue while I’ve waited on suspension options. Worst case scenario, I can dial back the suspension to near stock if any issue arises. I hope not though. I’m hopeful this setup work long term.

Interesting. The pro sway bar and end links look like a different geometry than the non pros come with.

Here some food for thought, run without the anti-sway bar.
The anti-sway bar is more for Road use, it's for comfort and safety, serious Off-Road vehicles don't have them. This sway bar is what causes tire lift when going through areas causing serious articulation of the suspension.

    pot stirred - go!

Certainly would ride nicer too. I'm surprised they engineered the sway bar to hang down as low as it does. One guy already hit his sway bar offroad which bent the end link and shoved it into the CV boot causing grease to go everywhere.

Yeah interesting…maybe that’s why there’s no clearance issues with the TRD sway bar and skids?

No controversy here- I actually ran my last 4Runner with no front or rear sway bars without any major issues- except a lot of body roll lol.

With the Tundra the rear sways were fine flexed out. I’ll probably look into end links to keep the mounts happy under full articulation, but so far the King shocks are limiting downtravel and not the sways. If I go with longer rear shocks I’ll likely upgrade to a Currie Antirock.

The fronts also aren’t limited by the sway bars, but the added thickness of the TRD sway bar definitely makes the front end a bit more difficult to flex out.

I wanted to retain the sway bars if I could to keep body roll manageable especially since I’ll have a camper going on shortly.

Disconnects would solve a lot of this. I would love it if there was a set of JKS-style quick disconnects on the Tundra. Ran them on 2 XJs for years and they worked out great. Hoping someone in the aftermarket will design a solution, but I'm not holding my breath. Also...that guy who damaged his sway bar is a poor example. He builds his truck as a mall crawler and then abuses it jumping dunes for YouTube views & ad clicks and then is surprised when his truck is damaged. He's an idiot.

Very true :rofl:But those of us who actually drive offroad are aware of how low it hangs and will do something about it before hitting the dirt. Still semi-curious if the sway bar can be physically flipped around to gain that clearance back. But you're right, sway bar disconnects are the way to go.

debated taking off my front sway bar after one of the welded nuts stripped out- chatted with the crew at adventure motors and they tried it… said this truck is too heavy (especially with front bumpers and winch’s) to run it deleted safely

Hoping my suspension question doesn’t disrupt this incredible thread. On my Sequoia I went with a Bilstein 5100 lift (re-using my coils) and have been happy with it. I don’t need anything too crazy but I’m not satisfied with my 2022 TRD Offroad red shock bodies on my Tundra.

Are there Bilstein 5100 or better, or ARB OME shock bodies that fit the ‘22 Tundra and can reuse the TRD Offroad coils? If so I’d love to learn those part numbers. Otherwise, I’m considering an Icon Stage 1 (reusing the TRD Offroad coils). I think the TRD lift kit is incredible but beyond my requirements.

    Thank you for your advice!
