So AMP Research is the company that makes the power running boards for the Tundra and the 4Runner. I sent a text to the CFO of AMP today and waiting on an answer of when they will be available aftermarket.

Well this is disappointing…I was planning on going that route.

I may check out the Rough Country cover…does anyone know if that one folds up tonthe back of the Cab (and supported) like the MX4 one does?

It does. Not sure if it will work though but it should. R/C only has a fitment for the 5.5 bed but shows that it fits 22 https://www.roughcountry.com/toyota...4550c.html?find=2022-toyota-tundra-4wd-863232

That is the 21 instructions. As for the 22, mine did not come with a bulkhead seal, still sits tight and water proof without it. Also these instructions have you drilling into the bed liner, its not accurate. There is a hole already in the bottom corner of each side for the tube to slide down into to drain. You may have to expand it slightly to get the tube to slide through easier or just hit it with wd-40 so it slides into the existing hole easier.

yep, they couldn't find the 2022 directions. probably don't exist yet. I'm glad to have those instructions because I had no clue how to install these things ;) much better than nothing. I started going cross eyed looking at random youtube videos of installs of aftermarket installs. thanks much for the install notes

I just had a loonngg talk with Sparks Toyota https://www.sparksparts.com/c-exterior-parts-5999 about the running boards.

They said that their website is correct as it pertains to the part number for the Crewmax. They said the part number is DEFINATELY PT925-34222 for the CREWMAX running board. I know their has been another number floating around for the running boards but it is INCORRECT.

They definitely have them and he gave me a shipping code of SHIP25 to save money on shipping.

    Hope this helps.

We are in prototype stage for our new locking underseat storage. This will be an all aluminum storage that will replace the plastic box under the seat. We decided on aluminum over steel due to the big difference in weight. Aluminum is just as strong in the way this will be built. It will be one long compartment with two lids accessible from both sides of the truck like our previous models. The divider on the top is just a bridge, not a compartment divider. Unfortunately, Toyota put a hump in the floor which is annoying, but we will be making that as low as we possibly can. If anyone is interested, we will be forming an interest list on our website soon or you can dm me here.22 Tundra storage.jpg

They can claim as they want, but my dealership pulled it up as the number I gave out here. The part number I ordered is what came, and what is on my crewmax right now. The number I gave out is not wrong as it is physically on my crewmax.

They did say that you need to order the bolts. If you expand the section with the running boards on their site it list the part number for the bolts.

Jim I am definitely not challenging you. I was quoting what the dealer said which we all know has been suspect of late. Do you happen to have a photo of the box with the part number on it or on the receipt? I want to challenge Sparks with the incorrect information they are giving out.

Also what dealer did you buy your running boards from?

Has anyone pulled the trigger on these as yet?
…given that what comes with the truck is plastic.

Another place to cross reference PN and order (they supposedly have free ground shipping up to $200… for anything above $75).

They also seem to link you to online Toyota dealers either participating or whom you may end up getting the actual item from (I haven’t fully investigated)

I went ahead and purchased the running boards from Sparks since the price was cheaper then the dealers price with the shipping discount (ship30). Once I get them I’ll post it here. Plus none of the dealers here in San Antonio Tx can get them.

Here's the part # on the box for the running boards, it says D-Cab, installed last week on our SR5 CrewMax. Funny thing is the dealer said part # for CrewMax is PT925-34223, but when the box came the last digit in the part # is 2 not 3 and it says it's for a D-Cab. Assume the running board is longer for the CrewMax compared to the D-Cab.

Were you able to use the existing screws on the truck or did you have to purchase the longer ones to install?

Purchased a package of screws, but did not use them, the existing screws were more than long enough to re-use. Found 3 or 4 screws installed too tight from the factory, used a 6 point socket, a 12 point socket could have rounded them off.

I've gone round & round with my local parts guy on this and started validating with other dealers in the area. He keeps wanting to order me steps with the D-Cab designation thinking they're for a Double Cab, but he's wrong. I know because he insisted that I had the P/N wrong on the side steps. He ended up ordering the D-Cab steps for me instead of what I gave him. They came. They were wrong. They were for the CrewMax. He had to eat the cost.

    Here are the correct labels:
    • D-Cab = CrewMax
    • C-Cab = Double Cab
These "C" & "D" labels are merely designations in the Toyota parts system and DO NOT equal Toyota's marketing labels.

There are older cab designations in the Toyota parts system as well. These are, if I'm recalling them correctly, the following:
    • A-Cab = Single Cab
    • B-Cab = Extended Cab with the Half Doors (I.E. like on a Tacoma and the 1st Gen Tundras)
All this means is that Toyota's Parts department (the folks who decide on the part #'s) don't talk to Toyota's Marketing department (the folks who decide customer facing labels like CrewMax & Double Cab).

@rrentrop Have you guys over at TVD Vinyl thought about making inserts for the "TRD" on the front grill of the 2022 Tundras? I was walking in front of my truck and thought it might look good to do an insert in that lettering to make it "pop" a little.

I didn't see it on your site.

    Just a thought.

Good post. My order was for the pn with a “2” since I own the Crewmax so should be correct but I’ll validate once they arrive.

Ride and Fly thanks for the photos. That solves the discussion about the part number.

Its a damn shame that a company with a net worth of over 200 billion cant get this right. I bet the bedstep will be the same issue with trying to acquire it and the part number.
