Beautiful truck, I'm definitely keeping my stock 20in wheels. They look great!

The misnomer on the high flow filters is they claim an increase in power, but they really dont. What they do is free up airflow, so motors make power and spin up quicker. This results in more power in the butt dyno.......... There is NO real increase in total HP, just maybe at best move the power lower in the RPM band and better driveability.

I have multiple cars with upgraded air filters, some K&N and AFE. Both proved to increase HP on the dyno without a tune. Especially on my turbo cars. I'm just sharing my experience.

Someone else was making this very same comment about the K&N they put on their Subaru.

Got the skid plate installed and the tonneau cover. The parts that come with it are pretty awful. I stripped two of the mounting screws for the clips that hold the cover open with a screwdriver and my fingers. The box said genuine Toyota but I’d be really shocked if it was based on how flimsy the bits were. I am going to go to home depot or whatever to get some replacement screws that won’t fall apart.

The the skid plate was a really easy installation. You can screw the front bolts in a few threads, then the heads pass through the skid plate and there are channels. There’s a hook in the back of the skid plate that goes into a hole in the rear cross member so it’s actually a really easy solo install IMO.

Here’s the Toyota part number for the bolts used to install the skid plate. It’s a pack of two bolts and costs like $2.50 or something:

welp! My install failed. The first fucking bolt I tried to remove broke in half. These bolts legit look like plastic.

Took longer than it should’ve been because of the broken bolt. Extraction was a bitch but I was able to pick up a similar bolt at hardware store and installed the steps!!! Now I need to get my baby a wash!! A6D4EEB7-53AE-48BA-A791-A2C4FC6775AA.jpg

My bolts definitely were not plastic, and another forum member split a socket open trying to get his bolts off. Glad you finished your install, and it looks great!

Damn! Sorry to hear that. The bolts are fairly soft aluminum. I almost cross threaded one when I went to reinstall the bolts. My brain fart for using my impact right out of the gate instead of starting them by hand first. Thankfully, I have a tap & die set that I used to clean up the threads.

Looks awesome, what size tire? Does the TRD OR come with the flip down front air dam?

My SR5 TRD OR does not have it. The Limited trim with the TRD OR package all seem to have it, based on several YT vids I've seen. I haven't seen it on any SR5s yet. Not saying they don't have it, just that I haven't seen any with it.

Thank you. I just saw an SR5 on dealer lot with it (non-TRD).
I like the idea of the air dam but not going to stay on for an offroad build. I'm getting an SR5 TRD OR as well.

Any one know what about color matching the chrome? How do I find out the exact paint code for the midnight black?

Here is what I had and what I went with. Also need to note that I got a 2inch front level kit installed before installing the tires. 6F114B2C-7030-4C31-A7D6-434A0579A78B.jpg

I picked up the TRD insert in red for the front grill. What did you do the Toyota "T" in the grill? I'm guessing you wrapped it or painted it? I haven't seen any overlays yet for the 2022 size.

I have the TSS package, and the "T" was already blacked out thankfully.

Ahh. Cool. I didn't realize they were still doing the TSS package for the 3rd Gen. Do you have the under-seat storage? I recall they eliminated that in the TSS packages for the 2.5 Gen Tundras. Toyota does give without taking away somewhere. lol

Hopefully I’ll be color matching soon and I’ll add the red TRD badge to the front.

This is the size I'm thinking about going with because @bigjuice is running that size on the stock 18" wheels at stock height with no rub. My only reservation is that I really want to go 35's. This is why I'm thinking about trying to go to 35x12.50x18 and see how much rubbing I get. Hopefully, not too much but I guess we'll see. I haven't seen anyone try to cram 35's on the stock 18's at stock height yet.

I'm going to install the RC leveling kit before too long (it's on the way), but I'm holding off on that until my local shops get the alignment specs. It'll probably be a couple of months before I get around to that, but I'm greedy and want to slap 35's on it ASAP. haha.

I’m sure it will look awesome. I was told 35’s would be to wide for my stock 18 inch rims so that’s why I went with that size.

Funny update. I just checked the DIscount Tire site...not my tire dealer of choice, but I do reference their site frequently when tire shopping...they're showing that BFG is releasing the KO2 in a 295/70/18 in March of 2022. I guess I just need to be patient for another couple of months. lol

I am on the hunt for the same exact things and I did shop on Sparks but I also put the brakes on when I came to the shipping! The running boards were $350 and they wanted Almost $200 to ship it, I don't get why the shipping is so high!
