Shit Matt, bring yourself out to FM on a weekend and we'll go hunt some 'dogs. I know of at least a few thousand acres that could use some cleaning :infantry:

You're on. You are not that far away from me. AK, that's not quite a Sunday drive. I'd actually like to have you fire up some of the those big agro machines for a test drive.

Shit if I still worked at Walthers you'd be on for the test drive ha. Here within the month the choppers will start running down in my hometown, cutting silage for the dairies.

I went up to Ft Collins yesterday for an on-site calibration job. Once you get north of Denver............Corn and more corn. Saw several choppers doing the crop duster thing. Very cool. I think most of the corn I saw is for feed and OCT corn mazes.

I about guarantee it, not much up there isn't going to a feedlot. There is a guy in Brighton, right on Highway 85 that grows 5500 acres of sweet corn a year (which is a metric shitload of sweet corn). Ships it abroad on cargo jets in refrigerated containers. He's actually got a pretty cool story, was put in an internment camp during WWII because of his Japanese heritage and is now one of the most successful farmers in the state.

I was just guessing about the corn. Sweet corn certainly is profitable. I like the Olathe sweet corn. Can't beat it for flavor. I went to an onsite cal job years ago. Not far from Bakersfield . VENDO. Vending machine mfr. The building they were using used to be an old saw mill back in the day. when I was there, I asked "what are those old #s painted every so many feet on the cat walk?" This used to be an interment camp facility during WW2. Shit. I've been to another one. Tule Lake.

I have a few rifles but my favorite is my remington 700. 300win mag. With a 180 grain bullet i think it can take out pretty much any large game animal in u.s. remington 700 is known for its accuracy and reliability. But for those oops situations. I carry a 45 acp side arm just in case. Either way for elk i think your 308 would do just fine

That is bad ass. Looks like m16. The one i have only holds 4 rounds and is bolt action. After seeing this setup might have to add a new toy to my collection. Dont know how it shoots but after seeing it. I want one

Now that's a rifle! Would love to own one someday, I'd just need to find the spare $3,300 I have laying around here...

Whatever you get, please don't just tell yourself "I've got a 300 mag, it'll do the job." No, YOU need to do the job. No matter what caliber you choose, it is always the person behind the rifle. Better advice would be to choose the right bullet for the application, not the caliber. A 300 mag with the wrong bullet and poor shot placement will take longer to kill (if you even find it) than a smaller caliber with the right bullet and shot placement.

Well said. The .300 wind bag will work just fine, if you and the bullet do.

Personally, I went on either side, and hunt with a 7mmRemMag, and a .338WM. Got the .338 last year after I got drawn for a limited entry bison hunt, but it still hasn't tipped anything over. Fairly confident it will work though - shooting 210gr Barnes TTSX.
