I have been good about taking my Tundra in every 5,000 miles for scheduled service and today was the 30,000 mile checkup for my 13 month old 2016 SR5 Tundra with 4.6L engine. After getting the truck into the shop the service tech came to get my approval for "fuel injectors service" & "throttle body service". I was told their recommendation every 30,000 miles is to clean the injectors and remove & clean the throttle body of deposits left behind by fuel. I told him the truck has had nothing but top tier fuel run through the engine since day 1 and is this really necessary. He did not know what top tier fuel was but said it was their recommendation to have the work done. The cost was quoted at $160 total for both items. I told him I have been religiously keeping track of fuel consumption and have not seen any changes and the driving performance of the truck seems the same. Bottom line, I declined the additional service. Any opinions our there about these services every 30,000 miles?

Pull the ol' maintenance schedule booklet out and see what that says.

I had one of our local dealerships try that bullshit on me and did exactly what I suggested. They no longer pulled that BS.

The same thing happened with the transmission checks and fluid swap, and your first transmission system check should have been at the 30k mile mark.

Stick to the maintenance guide and they have no legs to stand on.

There are some maintenance recommendations that may not be listed but as far as warranty goes you can tell em to shove it. If it isn't in the guide, it doesn't affect warranty.
