New guy here, I did a search and it came up with “Nothing Found”. I am looking at a 2024 with the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine and am wondering if anyone has any issues with this motor? I am aware of previous issues but Toyota is claiming that those have been resolved.

Welcome! Check out the Tundra 3rd forums. There’s a lot of decent information on there about the new engines.

Welcome from OKC! Plenty have had engine failures from turbo to mostly crank bearing failures. There's also body trim problems and such.

Toyota calls it a 3.5 for marketing purposes. It’s 3,445cc’s. Technically this rounds down to 3.4L. There are no 2024s recalled YET, same for the hybrids. There has been failures of the same type from at least some early 24s and the hybrids.

Toyota Corp does not call it a 3.5L, they got their hand slapped for that very early on in 2022 for rounding Up. The note you are showing is the Dealer's Lying Remarks.

I didn’t show any note. And good, as they should.

I would get a 2025. We hope they have it resolved. I have had no problems and it’s a been a great engine thus far, but it could potentially go at any time. Most of us haven’t had issues, but it’s there. If they do have it resolved, then it will be a really fine machine. It has plenty of power and torque, and the transmission is excellent.

The hybrids will never be recalled because its a safety recall, which doesnt apply to the hybrids. The hybrids are built to run electric only and therefore retain powersteering and braking assist even if the engine is not running.

If you have a hybrid, they are just letting the factory warranty deal with any engine failures and will replace the motors when/if they fail instead of doing a forced replacement.

I didn't see anything condescending for the OP to make that statement. People said hey yeah that's a known issue that is well documented and someone pointed out actually its a 3.4 liter from someone else's post. Like literally read above what was posted before the OP made that remark, I actually thought people were being pretty nice and if that is what the OP considered condescending then I wholeheartedly was making the suggestion to delete the account because when it does get to the typical snotty-ness the OP is going to have a hard time.

I guess that’s all well and good so long as they do a good will replacement when it blows at 60,001 miles and beyond since they know they have an engine problem.

    Lots of stuff!
In the first year (covered by the recall) there were a lot less Hybrids available to purchase. I think I was told that they were 12 to 18 months wait. So if there are failures of the Hybrids there will be only a small percentage compared to the gassers.

The challenge will be if a hybrid engine fails, what will Toyota do? A short block or a long block replacement?

Like that old saying goes: "If a tree falls in the forest, will Toyota replace your engine"?
