Ok, so I'll get my truck soon, and have had way too much time to research all the things I'm wanting to do to it once it's mine. The biggest right now is doing a 3-1 lift. I really like the Toytec Boss, but it's kinda pricey. The dealership says I don't need it for what I'll be doing and offered the Pro Comp lift level kit. Although cheaper, it's not with the coilovers which I've read on here make a huge difference in the ride of the vehicle. Is there any other brands besides Toytec or Pro Comp that compare to these? What do yall like?

    Thanks!!

    Pro comp=crap

Toytec is engineered just for toyotas. Their quality is top notch so that's why they're pricier.

OME (old man emu) is good but not adjustable like toytec.

If you don't mind a 2.5, you can go bilsteins.

I'm going with the Toytec Boss and shackles for my 08, I'm just buying parts as I go to lessen the financial outlay over time. Bilstein 5100's work well for a coilover level, I think I saw that you can do that for less than $900 installed most times. They're replacement coilovers for the front and a replacement shock in back.

Not to worried about the adjustability, once they"re set I'm not touching em. Just want to get that lift with using coilovers, and not spending my life savings!! What's my options?

You're correct. My question is what's a good kit? I've researched on here a lot, but really don't know much mechanically, to just say ya that's what I need. I hear get the coil overs only, others say just do the blocks, etc. I just want a 3-1 lift, and a nice ride on or off the pavement. The dealership is pushing this kit (

    http://www.procompusa.com/suspension-product-details.aspx?pt=9333&pl=107753
But it's not really what I want. My truck will be the basic truck suspension, no TRD. So I'm thinking the upgrade in shocks would be a major improvement?

coilovers is what you want for the front.
check the link I posted for complete kits front and rear.

how much does the dealer want for its kit ? save that money and get a nicer kit.

Toytec Boss is my recommendation as I have had experience with level spacer and Bilstein in the past.
OME is a good choice to save some money though

For the price, very hard to beat the OME coilover lift in front and shackles in rear.

ok, so I've come to this for my lift. Add the 5100 Bilsteins all the way around, with Toytec shackles and bushings. I told the parts guy at the dealership this and here was his reply.

The 5100 shocks at max adjustment would only give you 2.3" of lift in the front not 3".
Not positive you wont have issues with tires rubbing going this route. (tires he wants to put on are 325/60/18)
You will also need drop spacers for the differential and skid plate.

Any of you guys with just the upgraded shocks add the drop spacers?
    What do they do?
I'm getting a headache over all this !!!

From what toytec stated the Bilsteins will fit under the original coils(so that is coil over), Just wondering what the drop spacers are and what they do?

That looks almost level to me, I'm looking to have a little rake to mine, a little higher on the ass end.

Bilsteins are just shocks. OEM coils are used so it's just a shock. Coilovers are new shocks with new coils.

Drop spacers are just spacers that maintain the differential geometry on 4 wheel drives. If you have a 2wd, you don't need them (no differentials). I'm not well educated on diff drops (drop spacers) but I don't think you need them if you only go up 2 inches.

I have a 3/1 level and my rake sits at 1.25 (perfect for me) but CM and DC have different rake measurements so maybe the 3/1 on a CM has less of a rake, but I'd say a 1.5 in the back of a CM would be about equal to a 1" block in the back on a DC. Every truck is different so it's hard to say.

Correct. The Bilsteins use the stock coils and are still considered a coilover. The stock front shocks with coil are considered coilovers.
    Stock are not adjustable.
Bilsteins 5100 are height adjustable between 0.87, 1.57 or 2.28 inches of lift with the set ring.
Boss is fully adjustable to any height between 0" and 3.5" of lift. Just collar to whatever height is desired.

The drop spacers that they are referring to is the differential drop kit that comes with two spacers for the diff and spacers to drop the skid plate. http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...t-for-4x4-07-Tundra-and-08-Sequoia_p_366.html
They are used to shift the differential lower to reduce the angle on the front CV axles. Helps to reduce premature wear. The greater the angle the more stress on the joints. Because the price is low i would recommend for 2.5"+ lifts.

You don't need a diff drop with the 5100. I've got 5100's on the front of my truck (but only for a couple more days). I think the tire recommendation is LAME! That's a 33.35" tire 12.8" wide. Yep, I'd be concerned that a tire that wide would cause rubbing issues and I'd be worried about it even fitting without hitting the UCA? A more standard 33 12.5 18 would probably cost less and you may still need wheel spacers..... I don't know. You can run a 285 70 18 on stock wheels with 5100's and have no rubbing issues. That's 33.71 tall and 11.22 wide.

How is the ride on the ready lift? looking at the 3/2 lift myself mainly because of the price. Don't do too much off road stuff besides camping trips with the kids but was concerned about the ride with this kit for everydday driving. Thanks

It is almost factory. Just a little bit stiffer. Had it 2 separate tundras and was very pleased. I drive a lot of miles also. If you want your truck level make sure to measure your truck before you order the kit. My sat level with a 3/1. If you want take then obviously the 3/2.

If you are going to do it, do it right. Most dealerships will roll the suspension into the loan. Just tell them what you want and they order and install it. We do it with a lot of dealership vehicles around here with the Icon & Camburg products.

We just had a guy roll his Camburg Long Travel kit into the loan and we installed it!:burnrubber::benchpress:
