For me the appeal of the Toyota lift was, completeness of the kit, price, and being covered under the Toyota warranty. Though it's looking like I'll have to start looking elsewhere, but I'll wait until they refund my money.

Has anyone received any updated information on this? I haven't heard anything from the dealer I purchased my kit through.

I’ve been checking around my local dealers trying to find out. One told me the reason for the stop sale has to do with a safety issue with the spring compressor Toyota supplied to service departments. He said Toyota instructed them to stop using it because it could fail in a way that could cause “severe injury or death.” He also mentioned Toyota already made one fix but now they’re saying it wasn’t good enough and they need to make another. There’s no ETA at the moment.

Hopefully they heavily discount the kits when it comes back on line, they haven't sold any in months.

That would be a nice surprise, as I’m waiting for them to lift this stop sale on the lift!

I’m hoping they let us buy them soon. Waiting on this kit too.

Does anyone know if there are circlip positions on the shocks from this kit - if one wanted to use stock springs?
From what I’ve heard, these may be extended travel 5100’s.

Not sure. If by OEM lift, you mean the 3” lift, it’s the same thing.

Just called my local local dealer to see if there was any status change. The parts guy said the stop Sale is still in effect. He said it was Bosch that is responsible for the spring compressor fix. But there has been no ETA and he said Toyota typically doesn’t give an ETA. They just tell them when things are fixed.

    Just passing it along.

So. My truck has the 3” factory lift. 2024, 07/2024 build date.

Is this something I should be worried about? Maybe a dumb question but it’s nearly my bedtime and I’ve bourbon….

No. There’s nothing wrong with the lift itself. Just the tooling Toyota supplied the dealerships to install it.

A lot of us here want to put it on our trucks, but Toyota won’t even sell the parts until the tooling is fixed. It’s also best to have the dealer install it. That way you retain your full factory warranty.

So, you’re actually one of the lucky ones.

I think it’s crazy that they can put together the struts at the factory but can’t supply the dealers with the same tooling . What am I missing ? I couldn’t order my truck with the kit installed at factory and they won’t sell me the kit . I’d be happy to put the struts together and let them do the install of the complete kit ,,, but NOOOooooooo Grrrrr #¥{*

I was talking with a guy who was going to have the 3" lift installed at the dealership, but had communicated with Toyota prior to considering the lift. They told him that they wouldn't cover the lift (warranty) because it wasn't done at the factory. They said it had to be covered by the dealership who did the install. So he backed off. So why would you purchase this kit if Toyota will not cover the warranty? After all, they are approving the sale of genuine Toyota parts from their dealerships. Don't know if who he communicated with if that person gave him the correct information. Then someone else said your warranty stays in place as long as your lift isn't beyond 3". All seems hokey and doesn't do anything for confidence in the product.

It sounds like someone got there wires crossed. If it came from the factory with the kit installed OR was installed at time of purchase, it would be covered under they Toyota factory 3 year 36 miles warranty. If purchased after the sale and even though installed at the Toyota dealer it would only carry the Toyota parts warranty of 1 year unlimited miles. But you MAYBE could get it covered under an extended warranty program...

My concern is what the guy in this YouTube video dealt with:

    https://youtu.be/rnrQATHxM1k?si=qd32Y1gN8RwZ4A-g

Essentially, his leveling kit impacted his front drive axles and they started leaking. When he took the truck in to get it repaired under warranty, they would not honor it because of his leveling kit.

I’m hoping the TRD lift would not fall into this category.

Funny thing is, I bought my Tundra for the same dealership this guy is complaining about and they had multiple lifted Tundra’s in their show room.

At first I immediately assumed he didn’t have the red axles, or the ones that come in the TRD 3” lift, and that the standard axles were the culprit. However, his does in fact have the Red axles, which is quite surprising to see failure in for a 2” lift and such low mileage.

Anybody hear anything new about this stop sale? It’s been pretty quiet over the last few weeks.

The dealer near me has 2 trucks for sale with the TRD lift. Can they do that?

I think they can. Do you know if the dealer installed it or the factory?

No. Toyota has completely assembled replacement shocks/coilovers if the need were to arise for a replacement.

Still on stop sale for the foreseeable future.

Toyota may end up sending the kit assembled. Two parts numbers. One for non-Hybrid and one for Hybrid.

Someone feel free to correct me, but I was told the delay was also due to an ongoing litigation because the compressor tool actually did cause severe injury including death. The dealer I ordered from said that they are seeing some progress on the tool improvement side (ie their service dept got a new tool to install springs). Again, this is all what I heard, so it could be wrong.

Yes. There were/was injury(ies) incurred due to a tool failure.

The better way to do it, at least from my view, is to send them already assembled, much like TMMTX already receives.

Including one actual death too. Incredibly unfortunate situation and I can see why they're taking their time with this.

It would be awesome if the kit included the strut mount/top hats and came assembled for sure. I plan to do the install myself and that would save me some time.

It might be the reason they also delayed the release of the Tacoma TRD Lift Kit.

Assembled would also cut down on installation time.
