    The reason I ask is because they could’ve just shipped the kits with the strut assemblies and not even bothered with the spring compressor altogether, it would’ve been cheaper and saved everyone time.

    Spring compressor is their answer. And while it might seem cheaper, they also have had to support all other vehicles with high spring rates (Tacoma, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, etc).
