Don't have a Tundra, but I do have a 2002 Sequioa with the same engine. Posted here because I figured I'd get more hits.

Currently have an issue where it's gutless going up hill and at 4000 if you stomp on it. Goes fine from a stop and isn't suffering massive MPG loss that I can tell (16-17 in the city) but its annoying regardless.

Currently had a Cat delete to see if that was the issue. It was not. Maybe woke the engine up a little but didn't solve the issue.

Also replaced the PCV and gasket too.

It does have the typical exhaust manifold leak but it goes away after the engine warms up so I don't think that's the issue.

I'm rather loath to throw money at parts that may or may not fix it. Bought a fuel filter but haven't put it on as the filter is cold welded to the pipe right now. So my only option is to hacksaw the filter off and use a nut buster to remove it. However you can understand my hesitation to do that in case it doesn't work.

My only other idea's are the injectors are dirty (No engine codes for knocking, pinging or misfiring), fuel filter is clogged, fuel sender or pump is fuckered.

yep bank account is running low from it..
When was it tuned up last? spark plugs and airfilter?

Also try a bottle of injector cleaner first if you think its injectors. (rare)

If that checks out ok then to fuel filter(plugged) and fuel rail pressure. At 4000 rpm the fuel pump might be showing some weakness as it can't keep up the correct fuel pressure at the injectors but the fuel filter must check out first.

IF the filter is cold welded use penetrating oil on the nuts/threads for a few days and use a flare wrench to get it off.

only other thing i can think of is timing belt or the timing belt tensioner is starting to get alittle loose. When was the timing belt replace?

    @LOTSOFTOYS

    Timing belt replaced thus December.

Air filter is brand new. Cleaned the throttle body out, spark plugs see below (first thing I changed out.)
Sewfoamed twice now through the PCV. Still tons of white smoke the second time. Ran a bottle of injector cleaner and cat cleaner through.

If u run it in park and wood it, does it hit red line and fuel cut? Or does is Tap out at 4k even in park?

Check engine light on? Maybe the timing belt was installed wrong or maybe the tensioner is wasted and it jumped teeth? Early 2uz's have been known for weak tensioners

I'll see if I can bounce it off the Rev limiter tomorrow.

CEL is on for P0430/420 codes. Cats have been deleted. Other wise nothing else.

Would the timing being off not nuke the engine? Any tips for seeing if the tensioner is weak?

It should rev all the way to revlimiter. You'll know it if it does haha. If it doesn't, my bet would be timing belt, but you'd think you would get a code....

Bounces off of the rev limiter just fine. Went to 5500 rpm and hung there no problems. Didn't sound like it was misfiring, pinging or anything. I'll also check and possibly change the transmission fluid. Engine oil looked decent and was to the correct line on the dipstick.

yep bank account is running low from it..
unless the ecm is having a hard time with deleted cats. Some Ecms do, do to how it was programmed. (last resort but not likely) Ecms dont like the cats gone, why you use a o2 simulator on board.

Only other thing i can think of is a torque converter stalling out or locking up, if the transmission checks out ok. Thats the only thing can keep a engine from going up since it hits the redline in park. Or the transmisson computer has a code/fault keeping the engine at bay ( low rpms) more like a limp mode.

It'll rev fine on the highway, it just has no power. Transmission isn't throwing any codes or overheating. However that was my thought too. Torque converter isn't locking up properly to put the power to the ground. Would the tranny show codes on the OBDII or not?

    A̶n̶y̶ ̶t̶i̶p̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶f̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶O̶2̶ ̶s̶i̶m̶u̶l̶a̶t̶o̶r̶s̶?̶ (I can honestly say I'm positive that's not the issue as the engine is only showing -2/-3 LTFT on both banks.

    Found them.

Yes transmission codes should show up on obd2. Using a ultra gauge?
Can u feel the truck shift through all gears? Does the converter lock up?

Negative ltft means your running rich and the ecm command is to lean out command.

Ok one more thing and I will pull my books out. When was the transmission service last? If your filter is plugged your not getting the proper hydraulic pressure.

No Transmission codes. I'm using an actual OBDII reader. Shifts through all gears fine. Converter locks up. I've used both the Over Drive off and the gear selector to roll through the RPM range. Engine still feels as sluggish. One thing it does is feel like it hangs gears on hard acceleration, but I feel like that's normal as the engine is desperately trying to get me to speed but can't.

No clue. I was thinking of doing a flush on it. For the filter, is it a simple job of dropping the pan and switching it out?

Have seen them cause problems and not throw light.

Maf is clean as a whistle and all the wires are intact. Additionally no MAF codes thrown.
