I checked the oil just before I helped my brother clean out a house. Lots of trips loaded up for the dump. We were just about to head 75 miles to his house with the last load. I drove my Land Cruiser and he jumped in the Tundra. Then he stopped cause he didn't like the oil pressure reading. I know it was good, over L pressure as I'd just checked it. But never thought it being too low. Turns out a Low pressure reading is common on the gauges. A Land Cruiser guy with same engine in his 100 series replaced the cluster gauge.
How common is this with Tundra guys? Is it a normal cause for concern and to be honest I'm certain this below normal reading is new for my truck. I'd have noticed in the previous 3 yrs I've owned it. BTW, its the one in Pound Puppy Rescue thread.
Thanks for any help I can get here.

So it's the gauge. I found a picture from 2 weeks ago cause I was messing with engine codes etc. Oil pressure was
reading barely above the L. But this morning at 3 deg above freezing I started it and needle went right to middle of
the gauge like it's supposed to. Yet as soon as the engine is warm it parks itself right at L. Seems weird and I get
why it's a concern for some and others grow tired of worrying about it.
I will change the oil in a short while, kind of overdue. I'm suspecting the sensitivity to oil breakdown might be partial
reason. So for now, much ado about nothing......but I'm watching :monocle:

Do a search on this subject in the 1st Gen section. Asked lots of times and answered lots of times, even with pics! The 4.7 is very gentle on oil pressure. I think there was a post where a tech hooked up a mechanical pressure gauge showing the 4.7 only pumps 3-5 psi at idle.
