So I have a 07 Tundra. When my 2010-2013 grill gets here, will I have to cut the OEM grill insert out and keep only the surround to screw/install this TRD PRO grill insert?

You could cut it out, but it will come apart in one piece if you take your time. It’s held in by a bunch of little tabs. You just work your way around and separate the two pieces.

Thank you, that sounds a lot better than having to cut out the grill.

Thanks, I reached out to Sparks to see if they have one for a pre painted Nautical Blue.

Does anyone know if a surround from 2010-2013 Sequoia would also fit?

No, it will not. The tundra grille is taller by 1-1/4” or so. Technically a sequoia grille will bolt up to your truck, but you will have a large gap between the grille and the bumper.

That being said the Alibaba grill will not fit in the sequoia surround.

ok, so a question i havent seen asked or answered... where'd you get the cool little orange, red yellow thingy in your grille? i pulled the trigger on the grille insert today, and one of these cool little badges will match my center caps wonderfully...

For you guys purchasing the grille from Sparks, does the trim matter? I have a 08 limited crewmax and I noticed the part # 53100-0C230 says it's for base and SR5.

    Will this fit?

Glad to see this here. Have my grill and your printed piece, and was looking on youtube before getting to work. The videos I found involved sawing out the original insert, and I can't find my jigsaw!

Finished installing mine today. Definitely broke some clips along the way. Used some epoxy to try to repair the tabs on the grill surround and it looks like they’re holding.

I got my garnish, yay! The rest of the parts are on the way. I'm still thinking about whether to color match or black out the chrome surround.

Is there not any grille similar to this one that doesn't require any extra parts on an 08?

just fyi, i had my tundra parked next to a friends 07, and the improvement in looks vs old grill vs new is significant, oem to oem. i think thats the reason inserts for the old size surround are rare... 150 bucks for an insert for the old oem grill surround vs 150 bucks for a new boring oem grille, even a chrome one, and id spend it to get the new grill every time.

haha. i didnt even consider snapping a pic. next time we are together, ill make a point of getting one.

my grille came today. i got it from the guy that #rube207 linked to. i got him to $155(after the $5 alibaba processing fee.)... im located on the east coast. literally just walked it up from the driveway 5 minutes ago. i cant believe how quick it was... i sent the money thursday evening. no doubt it was shipped from a us warehouse. even still im surprised how quick it got here.

first impressions are good. the tss cover is awful. seems very well built. love that the toyota lettering seems to be a match to MGM silver.

hoping to have a friend print me a replacement garnish based off of rube207s file. either way, super stoked, and many thanks to him for introducing us all to this grille. ill get pics when i get it installed as ill be one of the few rocking this with the chrome surround for now.

Looking forward to seeing it on chrome. Make sure you do some finger strength exercises before hand and pack your patience. It is a real PITA to get the old one out. It can be done without cutting or breaking anything as long as you take your time.

When people do the color match to delete the chrome, are you getting the old one sandblasted and then doing multiple coats of color match with a clear coat, or have you been taking it to a body shop to paint?

Really depends on color. Some parts you can just buy from Toyota OEM

No, sandblasting would destroy the plastic grille surround. Some people have had luck stripping the chrome with chemicals, others scuff and paint. I started with an MGM painted Rock Warrior surround, scuffed, primed, and painted it Pyrite.

Now that you mentioned this, I wouldnt be surprised if my truck has a the newer or different grille insert already on it. My coworker said he never seen a tundra with my current grill/color match and maybe the previous owner might have installed a different grille. Ill send pics here shortly if anyone can verify my grille.

Hard to tell. The grill surround looks like a few shades different than the hood and fenders, could just be the angle

That is the ‘07-‘09 grille. The surround is thicker than the ‘10-‘13 surround. Also the 3 bar insert was only available in the older style grille. They switched to a 2 bar insert on the later trucks (pictured).
